Think the link to "71 " would work because Leigh were the massive underdogs then as they are now. Obvious to roll out the surviving " 71 " squad on the day would be great to see them walk out on the pitch .

Sorry, when I say 'aggressive marketing' I mean not letting folk in for less than what we'd charge for Hunslet (as Matt rightly points out).

This should be plugged at every available opportunity and get every business in the town to buy into it.
Create a community feel like there would have been in 1971 and get some pride in the town.
If every local shop & Pub isn't carrying Cherry & White or Leigh Centurions decorations in its window then it should be the odd one out - and I include the nationals of Asda , Morrisons etc.
The club could drive this with memoribila (I'm certain a sponsor might help chip in with finance to help achieve this in return for 'something' on matchday - be it sponsorship in the programme, tickets in a box etc)

The admission price should be what it is for a normal Championship game (and make sure we don't go for a 'Leeds charge £20.00 so we will have to' line as it will be deemed as a huge negative).

Get the players in town and make them celebritys, get the pubs in Cherry & White and talking about Leigh, get in the schools the minute the kick off date is confirmed and speak with each and every amateur club within a 10 mile radius and ask them how they want to be involved in Leighs historic day be it junior matches or a procession of the current teams as part of the pre match entertainment - it goes without saying the 71 Challenge Cup winners should be part of any procession, lets use that success to help sell our club to generations who view Leigh Centurions as a team that wins nothing.
Hell I'd even have a procession of Leigh born / trained players who have played in SL and the 2004 Grand Final winning team - celebrate success and then bring our youth team(s) out - sell the idea we can be successful again.

Leigh have been handed a huge opportunity to showcase that this is a RL town on TV (Potentially on free to air National TV) and are on the way back and by playing the Countrys current RL Champions and the Worlds Champions we have a huge opportunity to get Leigh pushed to the forefront of peoples minds in the town and the surrounding area.

The club should (and I'm sure will be) working every possible hour to ensure this day goes down as one of the best ever in recent times.

Its time to introduce the town of Leigh to its RL Team its time to introduce Leigh Centurions to the watching RL world.

How about turn up Save Our Club pledge scheme prior to the game to all of RL Community. 2,000 Begging bowls walking round ground throughout game. Guaranteed to raise about £500,000.

I think the Journal should have a look back in their archives and dig out some of the pics & reports from 71 and get them in the paper, bring back the memories from then, remind people we're still here and still playing, remind them of past glory, we've just had the 30th Aniversary of winning the league in 82, lets treat this as our Cup Final... Not a lot of time, but enough to get some momentum before the game.
