| A Lot of the problems financial wise that SL clubs find themselves in is due to the wage bill......some players are simply paid too much.
As well as the salary cap there should be a max that any player can earn. Pay the younger lads lower wages than the stars but even they need to be capped as paying 1 player 100 grand a year is stupid.
We are a minor sport compared to football and the moneybags called union and the pay should reflect this.....I`m not saying pay them peanuts but some players are overpaid and it needs to be addressed.

A sport overseen by a fella that allows clubs to lie to retain super league status, get accused by the drug testing body of being involved in the cover up of gleeson drug test and be incharge of a club they knew was going bankrupt but still had clubs paying for franchise applications when they knew for monthe the celtic clowns were going bust
time to go mr lewis

| I love the way you all seem to think that Richard Lewis does every little job at the RFL himself.
By god, he must be a busy man these days for someone who works - what was it? - three days a week.
I think you'll find this thing called 'delegation' goes on. If you want to point the finger, find out who was responsible for the actual decision. I can promise you that it won't be Lewis, any more than the chairman of WH Smiths decides what goes on which shelf.

| Anyway - will all the money that's being raked in by mammoth sponsorship deals - like the Stobart one - the sport has got no money worries at all......
I don't imagine for a minute that the Bulls will be the last SDL club we are gonna hear about with financial problems this season!!......and in the Ch/Ch1 it's pretty much a racing certainty!!!

| How have they got into so much financial trouble ?
We know that our situation (last season) was due to the fact that our 'only' backer had to leave the club.
Last season they had the 3rd highest average attendance of almost 15,000, and also sold their ground to the RFL, combine this with the 'salary cap' - how is this possible ? Bonus's to Directors that a Banker would be happy with ??
THIS IS A BIZARRE SITUATION

Don't buy that on two counts - firstly, the franchising decision is one of if not the most important decisions made every three years (apart from which pie(s) Nigel is going to have for lunch), so you would hope that Lewis was very heavily involved, otherwise why are we paying him so much? Secondly, as Starbug said, the buck has to stop with the leadership - goes with the territory.
How many times are these questions of credibility going to be raised?
If I once heard a shred of humility from the man, even the merest whiff of an apologetic attitude then I might be more sympathetic.

| I think 'Budge' that no money actually passed over hands as they seemed to owe a heck of a lot to the RFL - something I do believe was denied but now accepted, what with 'Walesgate' 1 2 & 3 and other debacle's just how they hang onto power is sometimes beyond belief.

| Well I take no satisfaction from saying this but when I could post under my real name I did say that when he was appointed Richard Lewis would be as successfull as he was in his previous sporting job.
I also posted that franchising would destroy RL as a pro sport within a ccouple of seasons and that that Leigh actually did play at a stadium which Richard Lewis said did not exist believe it or not on National TV.
Am I thankfull the RFL have kept us in existence ? Course I am.
This policy ie paying money to the club I support in advance and buying Odsal is unsubstainable. Lets get back to what pro sport should be about ie promotion and relegation. Stop the televising of Championship clubs for NOTHING.
I suppose one day I will see a Stobarts truck/lorry with a Non Relegation league advertisement on it. What a ridiculous deal the RFL has struck on that Stobarts do not worry about how much we could have got deal.

| The Watcher is not a fan of SL, so anything that shows up the bent & hypocritical side of the top division is welcome from his point of view. The Watcher is pleased that this has happened to Bradford, as it is a form of revenge for all that Chris Caisley (ex Bradford chairman) & his pals have done to lower league RL clubs over many years. One thing for sure is that Skys flagship rugby league show, Boots`n`all, will not be doing an in depth investigation into this throughly embarrassing debacle as they are hand in glove with the SL authorities. The Watcher thinks that, as a journalist, Mr Edward Hemmings should hang his head in shame. The other puppets on Sky are just yes men.
