Is the advanced payment from the RFL from next seasons money or this seasons? The only reason I ask is, if it is from next seasons money does that mean the board will have to recalculate the budget for next season so we don't have a similar situation next October?

I get the impression is the RFL money for 2012, but this has always been the plan and as such has been accounted for in the budget.

Final note: Let's not go through this again. Simply spend what we earn and not a penny more. If it's to the detriment of the first team then so be it. It's better to have [ia[/i team than no team at all. We are what we are, whether that be Super League, Championship or Conference. As long as the Cherry & Whites play bearing the name Leigh, that'll do for me.

Bang on, Paul. Let's face it, 'chasing the dream' has been at the fault of many of the previous financial crises and it's time we learned from it and re-assess expecations accordingly (earier said than done, I know).

Things may have changed though Derek (I don't know only painting the blackest picture) and it may be all of next seasons RFL money so in that case to pick up on Wayne's post, we have survived this 'heart attack' (sorry to use that analogy for all those with heart problems, and best wishes to my old Mucker Brian who's just had a scare re his heart - get better soon buddy) so we will have to have the 'best' team and coach that we can afford, if that means mid table for a couple of years then so be it.

Hopefully now we are over the worst. Barely posted on here in the past month its been too depressing just reading it. As long as we can get a team on the pitch next season that will do for me no matter how competitive or not they are. Hopefully the news coming out of the club will continue to be positive from now on.

Fantastic and really happy for you all. The good thing is with no Relegation next year is there is no need to buy a team to survive nor do you need to tick a box. For me Leigh would be best signing a load of locals (Wigan, Leigh, St.Helens;Warrington area) and unwanted academy players that are not expensive and a couple of experienced heads. No need to pay lots out next year. See how things go and maybe look to add more bigger names in 2013. 2012 is all about rebuilding. Nobody is expecting you to be up at the top so there should be no pressure. All the best and least the only way is up and you still have a great club.
