| I think Trever Hunt mentioned 2,500 was needed to break even (Jack Dearden thought it was 3,000 but Trevor was adament it was 2,500 after he'd interviewed someone at Leigh).
2,500 , 3,000 or 4,000 are all figures that I'm sorry to say are totally unrealistic figures in the Championship.
Widnes struggle to average that and they have a relative recent history of major success in RL and have played in SL for more than 1 season (thus have a fan base built from that to fall back on).
The projections should be 1,800 for the bigger championship clubs (Us, Fax, Fev, Barrow) with the rest looking at a break even of 900- 1,000, sorry figures but IMO the realistic ones.

| Yep, head, sand, dig and place in hole.
Lets see what Trev does and how he communicates after he's seen the numbers. The accounts for 2009 show a debt to AT of well over a million and growing - now JiC why would that be??

I slightly disagree with you about our ability to increase our gates.
If we can be consistantly good in this league i believe we can get 3000 gates. If we are to increase the gates beyond that figure then every decision the club makes needs to be the right one with quite a few brave ones as well.

Apart from starbug starting this rumour were is the black and white facts????

Fairly simple maths , by the time you deduct for concessions and kids , then take out the LSV s share , then VAT , you will be very lucky to see £ 8 per ' attendee ' , times that by 2500 gives you £ 20,000 per game , once again times that by 15 games gives £ 300 K per year , that pays for your playing squad , not including your nat Ins , you then have coaches wages , rent , community , phones countless other costs
The break even at Hilton Park was around 2,800 , but we had several other income streams no longer available to us , ie food drinks sales , stadium advertising , even merchandise sales
Plus quite simply the fact that I know roughly what our Chairman has been contributing each season , so to make that amount up requires 1,500 paying spectators at the maths I have just given you above

That's fine Jenky , if we want to reduce the Championship salary cap to a third of what it currently is

Don't get me wrong, I think Leigh can get higher gates consistently but I think thats a fair way down the track with lots of work required off field to achieve it.
We have improved massively but we are still a long way off being the towns focal point.
Operating in the league we do is a huge turn off for many but I feel the club was slowly getting the right ideas in and was targetting the right areas, but it will still take a long time for us to average 3,000 in a league where 2,000 is deemed way above average as a spectator paying gate.
The work done with juniors by the club/RFL this year will have put some seeds down, we need lots more but for now that is something to be positive about once all these problems become resolved.
