Linda,

The following quote is from LastTackle by someone called "Officers Mess". He seem to be speaking on behalf of the Cluba and says they did make a contribution to the cost of the coaches via Leigh Centurions.

Is this the case? If not it is a bit rich from someone holding themselves out to be a club rep!

[iJust for the record, Gateshead Thunder have not reported the matter to the RFL. We were invited to but have left that to fans who had already taken that step before we posted our statement. This merely pointed out the avenue for doing so.

Our statement support's the RFL's Respect policy and as a club we do not condone foul language as this is a family sport.

I will repeat that none of the Gateshead Directors were involved in any gestures between the fans.

Finally, we did also contribute financially to the cost of Leigh's coaches via Leigh Centurions - a point that seems to have been lost and a gesture that has clearly not been gratefully received.[/i

They did not make any contributions towards the coaches at all, after the game, I was told they had given the club a discount on the amount of tickets sold, they gave the discount to the club . So everyones happy, the club make a fewe quid, we get cheap travel and cheap tickets to get in.
I cant complain about that as I paid £11 for my ticket and its the cheapest one in the league.

Lynda will reply on here to that but it is NOT true. The coaches were all provided by Leigh sponsors.I understand that our club NOT LISA received a sum of money for admission tickets sold on the coaches by LISA . I met a friend of mine before the game and he had bought a ticket from the pub near the ground. I bet the pub gets commission too.

Also, for what it's worth, giving discount on tickets sold by the away club, is standard practice in the RL. As far as I'm aware, all clubs do it.

Just read your post on the Last Tackle message board. We are whistling in the wind with this lot. It almost reminds me of that film set in Hillbilly land on the East coast mountains of the USA where that strange looking lad is playing the banjo.

Those Gateshead 5 won,t know but they are called the Appalachians.

They have done a lot more harm to their club than they have done to ours. The numpties.

Speaking as a Thunder fan I would say that your fans passion and support for your side was fantastic, sure there was a bit of swearing which we rarely have heard at the stadium but those of us who are also football supporters have heard ten times worse than that at all the North east grounds.Remember our club has only being going 10 years and is slowly building a fan base which is tough in a football area so we may appear less passionate than heartland clubs but believe me we are not. RL is a great game played by real men and watched by in the main honest and fair minded people. Also on Sunday at no stage did I personaly feel threatened just a little uncomfortable with the swearing again maybe not being used to it.Passions are running high but lets remember what a cracking game it was and get back to criticising the ref who was awful.
I realise my views might be out of cync with other thunder fans but if we play you again next season which I hope we do please think again about returning as your team also needs your support and surely that is more important than putting money into our club.
