| Quote: Alan "Fair point Harold. (welcome back, by the way)
However, if you are looking for a half back, to back up a chance created by any of your fifteen, I would back Ryan against any of them. For me, it's all about horses for courses, (Charlie would know all about that kind of thing) and pace is one of the attributes we don't possess a lot of. While we had Ryan on loan, John Duffy was utilising him the way he was used in the 'early days'. I would think we would have to find a place for him - although not at the expense of Gregg, Josh or Riddy!'"
Alan you are so right about horses for courses, I backed a horse tonight Fox Vardy at Windsor, it just won, the Trainer said it hated the course, but would win easily on a straight course.
Ryan has improved his game since he left Leigh, his passing is quicker, he reads a game better, and still has the speed and cockiness to try the unexpected,I’d have him back in a heartbeat, he regards the LSV as his home, and for me is still a Leyther.

I agree with everything except the Murrell bit, the guy belongs in the Tower now with me, he was up and down the touch line at the LSV last week showing his belly to the fans, not a good advert, stand offs like Woody, and a Gary Scofield didn’t move teams round the pitch, they made the breaks and scored the tries.Bring Ryan home.

| Think it is a case of getting the right partnership at half back a runner and an tactical organiser. With the right partner Ryan can move around and inject pace. Alternatively could he play wing, Kay made the half back wing switch and do did Hampshire!

Again just my opinion.
Absolutely correct, we will be needing someone next season, so why not Brierley (if we can afford him)

Why play him on the wing? Might offend Alan with this, but he would have to replace somebody.

| We're crying out for pace and I'm sure the last time Ryan was here (don't mean for the months loan)We played great stuff with him and riddy in half and Greg at fullback but this time the teams defence is alot better plus ryan is alot better and can organise a lot more,in a tight game like it would be in the play offs Ryan's pace could make the difference because a half break would be a try because all our trys at the moment are hard work or crashing over but would we score many of them in a play off game

Don’t know if you have noticed but most try’s these days are crashed in, I just don’t see the point in paying a fortune to use him as a winger. Where’s the logic in that?

I agree he's never a winger and it would be pointless signing him to play there,he's a half back and if they dont pick him there no point him coming because moving riddy to fullback and putting Greg on the wing to accommodate playing Ryan is daft because riddy is no where near as good as Greg at fullback and Greg is not a winger

Not offended at all. As most coaches would say - "It would be a nice problem to have".

An expensive pointless one at this stage - unless it’s to secure him for next season

| In recent weeks Josh Woods, Martyn Ridyard and Greg McNally have become a crucial combination playing in their rightful and most effective positions.
Much as I greatly admire John Duffy's coaching talent, I guess he would now see Gregg on the wing and Martyn at full back as a failed experiment and a waste of their natural talents. The failure of these positional changes was never more badly exposed than in our away game in Toulouse.
Josh Woods week-on-week advancement both in terms of his confidence and skills application has been a revelation under John Duffy and the Leigh coaching staff (including Tommy Martyn). At the end of the season Wigan will have the choice of calling Josh back or leaving him with us to continue his development under the expert guidance that he has undoubtedly been receiving at Leigh. One thing is for certain, Wigan will make Josh honour the three year contract that he signed last summer and will be seeking to give him every chance to make it at SL level.
Ryan Brierley is a potential game changing influence every time he takes the field at Championship level. I guess his physicality is in question at Super League level and this decision has perhaps already been made by Toronto (Brian McDermott).
Is Ryan an asset as a Leigh player this season and next ? Of course he is.
He again ably demonstrated his pace and support play in his recent loan spell with us. He would be a massive asset at this level. The difficulty is of course how to accommodate him in our current set up. But if any of the three players mentioned above suffered an injury, his signing would have been an absolute no brainier and if I was a betting man Wigan will want Josh back next season. Charlie can no doubt advise us from a betting perspective.
I would love to see Ryan back at Leigh - the atmosphere lifts all around the ground whenever he takes an offload at pace. Ryan Brierley would put many extra bums on seats.
Let John Duffy worry how to inject Ryan's talent into our current set up. Assuming there are no injury disruptions I personally feel we could play Ryan on the wing and give him free rein to interchange with the centres when drifting into attacking positions. I reckon he would be a nightmare for defenders to mark in this role.

| Ryan's best position is at a different club away from Leigh.
Has positives, kids love him and he's a good poster boy but from purely playing perspective he wants too much money and has been dropped by every coach including Rowley over his defence.
If it came down to a one off match against Toronto they would target him all day.

If the lad hasn’t been paid (montys version) TWP would be in breach of contract. Given their latest negative media releases, more negativity wouldn’t be advisable.
I have no doubt Ryan wants out. Very obvious TWP don’t want him leaving to Leigh.
