Quote: Dick Jones "I tried to reply with a quote then and it messed up.
The link to the Lisa web page is on the bottom of my posts click on it and it tells you how to join.
Now several year ago Lisa was asked to look into having a supporters trust we got Supporters Direct down and several other people and held a fans forum of all fans including LISA members to listen to how it works.

We then asked Lisa members to vote, either at the special meeting we had or a proxy vote.
The result was 80/20 percent against.

No saying fan involvement couldn't help the club, this could still happen as I recall at a fans forum it was said that the touchdown club and Lisa could have a share for every £20000 we gave the club, so far we haven't been given this, but could this not be the way to have a say in the club, more Lisa and touchdown members

Dick do you recall the lies told at those meetings, I do. With the facts since do you think we would get the same outcome? Then we had AT throwing hundreds of thousands at it, now we have.............
First time with the consortium we had PC telling us how we would break even or make a small profit, I laughed then in 2003........
The shareholder input needs to be £100k pa and that was at HP, I don't know what retained income the LSV contract gives us but listening to the forecasts then its similar
Salford were not deducted a point and both Bradford and Wakefield are still in SL so why should we be excluded from the second ten with a well financed plan in place as a newco?

I'd be interested if I thought that there was a strong leadership in place alongside a robust shareholders agreement carefully constructed to avoid the problems mentioned by starbug. People will have to grow up and realise that having a share and therefore a vote is not the same as being a consultee on every decision.

Another concern is that we have tended to have people in charge whose experience is largely B2B and this is not very useful for marketing the club (as evidenced by recent communications). Looks like you're no different on that front and I wonder who's out there who can come into your team to strengthen that most important aspect of this business, the B2C marketing. I think that the required level of marketing expertise is unlikely to come from local solicitors and estate agents.

Well put and understanding our market to create affordable products they want to buy is critical, but you don't need to be a B2C guru to do that

No need for a guru. But enough experience and nous to avoid boo-boos would be a start.

In most organisations that would be a given

I cannot see how Leigh could not be in the second tier, irrespective of current circumstances.
1 - We have the right to apply for SL now
2 - We have the best facilities IMHO outside of SL
3 - We have the infrastructure. Just need the investment.

As a fan, I would glady get involved to help and assist the club. The management of it though is the main sticking point. Maybe an 'executive ST' might be an option to help and assist ? potential investors could purchase on of these and indirectly be as involved as they want to be ? I dunno, but financial clout is needed, QUICK !!

I may be wrong here but isn't it better the club gets share income rather than ST sales for tax reasons ie vat, and gifts are better than sales also.

I'm with Starbug.

It all seems like a good idea on paper. Who appoints the coach? Who sacks the coach? What if hundreds of shareholders don't agree with a decision or a run of decisions and pull out in mass?

Obviously it's just an idea at the moment but personally I don't see it working.

Having said that, I don't have an answer to the current problems.

This is my fear also - as I said upthread there was a big dropoff in LISA membership after initial enthusiasm.

Also, whatever successes Lewes FC have had off the pitch, they are not doing great on it - 3rd from bottom with 9 wins from 40 games. I can just imagine the reaction of some of our "shareholders" if we were in that position.

Still, I would love it to succeed and I will support all efforts to get it going.

Without having fully read the whole thread, which I will do when I get chance.

I guess like a lot I currently pay….

Lottery £2/wk = £102/yr
LISA £60/yr
Matchday ticket say 10 x £16 = £160/yr
So £322/yr (£6.20/wk)

Increasing this by £3.80 to £10/wk, this wouldn’t be a great deal of extra strain on the pocket, and puts me in the £10 -20 bracket, with 500 others and the additional support of local businesses. We get ownership of the club.

Whilst I can see the fears of mob rule what alternative do we have?

You get my support.SRW1996.

If this gets momentum I hope the fear of the boogeyman syndrome can be laid to rest because this may be the last role of the dice

kcab sfrawdder Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done But he with a chuckle replied That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried. So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin On his face. If he worried he hid it. He started to sing as he tackled the thing That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg

A ' guru ' is exactly what is needed, normal rules dont apply when you are dealing with a low profile club in a low profile competition in a low profile sport that has little if any money to spend and is surrounded by other sports clubs with massive comparable profiles

Marketing Leigh Centurions is an extremely complicated issue, requiring thought processes outside what many would consider normal within regular business practice

The club has very little to actually work with
