| I've just been reading on the Toulouse website, how they were told they wouldn't be continuing in the Championship. As a compensation, they have been told that they weill be in the Challenge Cup for the next three seasons, and the Northern Rail Cup, ("in anticipation of the new format"icon_wink.gif and a Franco-British tournament. ("format being defined"icon_wink.gif
So, it looks like the RFL is at least considering some changes for the Championship clubs.

I've heard this aswel. What i dont understand is how this will help the CC clubs, or why would semi pro clubs with semi pro players agree to this.

Fantastic , they've wasted close to a million in the last three years , so now they'll waste some more , once again flying players over the channel , this will however suite Toulouse better and will make them perform better against the Championship clubs , now why would they want that , I wonder ?
So what we actually have is three competitions , none of which has been sorted , even bloody worse
We need more British Championship clubs , not more games against clubs with no traveling support and no atmosphere at the games , they just don't understand what is required
As was suggested on the VT the other week , we need a ' Championship Director ' at the RFL , personally responsible purely for the lower leagues , not concerned with any other part of the sport , it seems we are just there to accommodate the RFL s agenda of expanding SL , nothing else

| Steve,
Toulouse are also suggesting that they will be in a good position to apply for a SL licence for 2015. Their ground renovation is supposed to have started, and they will no longer need to 'qualify' on the pitch. I can't see, for the life of me, why they should participate in the NRC then!
As for the Franco-British tournament, I fear that will generate less interest than the NRC group stages, or the Challenge Cup!
We wait to see how the RFL will implement their proposal of increasing the size of the Championship.

| I like the idea and concept of the Franco-British tournament, however fear it wont be of interest to anyone unless a wealthy prize is at stake, and the matches at least from the final 16 stages are televised.

| Starbug you are bang on about having a spokesperson/director just for the champ leagues ,we need someone looking out for interest for a change ,i'm a bit fed up of the RFL using our leagues purely to expand without any consideration to the clubs it affects .Why include Toulouse in our comps if its not purely to get them in SL.

| Does anyone really think that the RFL will have someone connected with them that doesn't tow the RFL line. Dream on baby. This has to be someone who the clubs appoint and who they comfortable with.

| So, given the comments on Halifax, why was their 'application' (incomplete apparently) allowed to go forward?

Completely agree. Why didn't they get them to withdraw it. Suprising given the fact that they had the application well before the SL clubs had to deliver theirs.

| And why have 'Fax been awarded a grade C if they're "well below" Super League standards? Surely there must be a grade to differentiate or it could be argued they've been grading the same as Salford etc!

| As I said on the VT [i'They're pretty much general negative statements that could be applied to any club they wanted to keep out.'[/i
