A fool shows his annoyance at once, but a prudent man overlooks an insult”:

Quote: Fax4Life "Sad that the crowd was so low, okay there was a footie match on later but the first RL international at Leigh for how long got less that 6K???
RL is just not getting the crowds is it?'"

Where did you get your info?
Official crowd was 50 short of 8000 - pretty good considering the other thing thats going on.
There was quite a large Leigh support which was excellent considering we are not in the Stupid League and had no representatives in the side. Didn't see many Fax shirts icon_wink.gif

Despite the 'club' chants (not just Leythers, I might add), that was actually by far the most supportive atmosphere for an England side in years.

Crowd figure was announced and put on the screen in the corner of the South stand.
it was 7943 within 10 or so as I can't remember it exactly.

Quite honestly I thought it was a poor crowd for an International. Apart from Leythers there where quite a lot of Wigan fans.

For me yesterday was about supporting England and showcasing the LSV and welcoming other Rugby League fans from whatever club. The East stand looked fantastic in the sun, a sea of red and white and practicly full (pity the cameras were aiming at the two-thirds full West stand). It was taster of what the ground could be like with a successful Leigh team

I go to most of Leigh's matches and Leigh supporters are second to none but some of the chants are now changing from supporting Leigh to baiting opposition supporters. I just couldn't see the relevance of the anti-Wigan chants yesterday at an England game.

This is the forth match were there has been some adverse comment on some of the Leigh fans behavior. We can keep ignoring it until some incident occurs were some one will get hurt or we can get the chip off our shoulder about Wigan and Super League and concentrate on what we can have control of.

but Jasper the flute song is harmless, racism is ok and foul language is to be heard everywhere.

Until we learn we will alienate support and gradually die.

7951 if I remember correctly. And to be fair, the attendance for an international game reflects all on all English RL fans, not just those in the town in which it is held.

2015 - major missed opportunity, 2016 - stronger teams = harder task (no problem there then), 2017 - OMG What now!!!:953.jpg

I'll get it in before some other idiot does, the 2k discrepancy between sporting life and 7951 is obviously a tax fiddle by Leigh icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif icon_rolleyes.gif

Fully agree with this ,i'm sick of hearing we hate WIGAN when playing anybody but Wigan it was even more embarrassing to hear it yesterday its just pathetic and yes other supporters sang but about their own club not having a go at Wigan who had the best player on the field !

Well said. Its a pity more Leigh fans are not posting similar. It was embarressing especially like you say the best player on pitch was a W1ganer, and what could we hear "We hate W1gan" and Leigh chants - amazing. icon_surprised.gifops:
I couldn't hear the IRA song thankfully from East stand - tho if it was sang at least it was a laugh icon_rolleyes.gif

Was in the North Stand.

Heard the Nanyn song, and a song about Wigan,
didn't hear the Pasty one however.

Most of the chanting/noise was from the fans at the back of the Central section.

A Wigan fans stood near me was a tad upset by the Wigan song and he just called them,,, k**b heads............

At the end of the day, we went to support the national team.....

As for fans wearing their team shirts,
apart from Leigh and Wigan, the rest were few and far between

Can anyone explain why the central sections either side of the tunnel were less than half full? I asked for tickets in that area when I bought mine early last week and was told nothing available. icon_twisted.gif I thought it looked quite poor that this gave a poor impression on the TV.

With regard to the singing - I thought the anti-Wigoon songs were taken in good humour by Wigoonners sat around us in the East stand - but personally I did find the flute song a little embarrassing given the amount of kids and families at the match yesterday - but it still isn't as bad as the Stains fans singing "The referee's a W@nker" at full belt every 10 minutes" which Sky gloss over all the time!
