| Just needed a bit more composure in the first half, Moylan being the main culprit, and we would have been out of sight by half time. Sadly, we forced a play on tackle zero on their line, dropped the ball, then two minutes later it's 6-6.
Awful comments from Burgess after the game. He should come out and say who he's accusing of telling Trout to stay down. It's truly odd that we have a scenario where a tackler hits the ball carrier in the head. The referee misses it, and it's the person that's been hit on the head that comes under the most scrutiny.

| Yes, what he said is now repeated as some kind of cast iron fact.
Have we got another ex-player turned coach who's going get his knickers in a twist because they lost to Leigh?

I have lived and worked with the Wire folk for over 20 years, and mostly live in a Rugby League harmony. This week is very different, and accusations of cheating and robbing the Wolves of the title have come from both neighbours and colleagues. Most of stuff being spouted was from Sam Burgess and David Cain https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qNCHP08FEFg
In case you have not been on Facebook and other social media, the argument follows that:
1. Paul Vaughan is an angel
2. Owen Trout milked the foul by running into Vaughan's shoulder (multiple sources)
3. All the Leigh players told Trout to stay down so that the incident could be reviewed (SL Raw)
4. The Ref - Liam Moore and the video ref Ben Thaler are in a cabal to scupper Warrington's chances of winning the Grand Final
5. Warrington players do not milk penalties by staying down or badgering the officials at every tackle, and in fact it was Leigh who was using these tactics
6. Owen Trout was not injured and the HIA was dramatic effect
7. Josh Thewlis who stayed down on two occasions was seriously injured, even though no penalties resulted from the reviews, and after taking on fluids jogged back to the wing
8. Obviously the Match Review Panel are as bent as the match day officials and have awarded Vaughan a breather for the rest of the season. Grade D - 3 Matches.
Sam Burgess and his comments after the match are on a par with Wellens after the Challenge Cup Semi-final. Owen Trout has done nothing wrong and neither did John Asiata, who received vile abuse aimed at himself and his family. Burgess in my opinion has brought the game into disrepute and needs to be fined and educated about how his words and actions can incite behaviour in others.

i think we all know that some clubs have been guilty of a much more serious and sustained form of cheating than we are talking about here.
In some clubs the value and status of a number of players signed in reality bears no resemblence to the values shown on the P60s at season end.
Plenty evidence come out over the years. This applies to more than one club of course but certain ones would fall into lthe serial offenders column.

The SL Raw podcast is usually very balanced, but they are way out on this one. Not sure how any of the below can be denied;
1) Vaughan hits Trout in the head with his shoulder
2) While Trout may drop slightly. It's not sudden nor unexpected (given it is caused by another tackle), while Vaughan does nothing to adjust his tackle height.
3) The fact that it is Vaughan's shoulder means that it is automatically deemed forceful
4) Nobody within the TV shot says a word to Trout, instead, they're lining up for the next play the ball. If anybody has told him to stay down, then it is from 20 yards away.
I just find it incredible that in a situation where a tackler leads with the shoulder into a ball carriers head, and it is missed by every on field official. It is the ball carrier that is put under the most scrutiny.
It's a blatant red card. Not even a "games gone" red card either.

| It just goes to show that sporting disappointment can cloud both sound judgment and logic. Thereafter its just the herd response to a perceived injustice.
Some fans from other clubs just need to calm down and take their blinkers off.

| Another thing Burgess said, that has been repeated on various podcasts is that they scored 12 points to our 10 after the red card. Winds the pedant in me up, as it was only 4-0 when the red was given.

| The present rules for head-on tackling mean that contact must ONLY be below the shoulder and above the knee. Why stand upright when effecting a tackle unless you're asking for a card?

The answer is to tackle in one of 3 ways:
1. Wrap the arms and drop back with the ball carrier
2. Wrap the thighs together and Walmsley will go down like a tree
3. Aim for the stomach and go up through the ribs from a crouching position
Never liked the stand-up and wrestle with 3 in the tackle.
