Well it’s the clubs fault in my opinion, we have 20+ players off contract this year and 2 of which were in the 2023 dream team, top clubs renew contracts all year round ala Wigan/Saints even KR and don’t just wait until May every year. Just another unprofessional example of our club, very much like losing Paul Johnson as S&C.

Unfortunately modern day contracts tend to be dictated by the merry go round of agents testing the water at this time of year and players certainly have the right to have a look around (Salford fans must have been having kittens last few days with the Rowley, sneyd and Brierly rumours).Am I sad he is leaving, yes ,am I worried that our captain is leaving to play for a rival not as much if he was 25 years old .The NRL may come calling for a couple more we can't do much about that , what we do need is Adrian to sign and I believe that will give us a lift and positive news of new and re-signings will follow

The more I think about it, £660k is a massive amount to risk for a player with John's recent injury problems and age. If he plays plenty of games then it will be a great signing for FC, but I'm happy that Leigh aren't exposed to this level of risk.

Good luck John and thank you for these last three seasons. You've been immense and you all brought me to tears of blissful joy at Wembley. You may forever be my favourite ever Leigh player.

How are Leigh going to get an a licence when

1. A small catchment area
2. Poor crowds
3. Can’t afford an academy
4. Don’t own a stadium
5. Bottom half finishes

Lammy will be staying with Leigh. Hull job is a poisoned chalice. Asiata has got an excellent 3 year deal. Good luck to him. Gutted he's leaving, but it's good business sense by Leigh. I wouldn't have been happy if Leigh had matched the offer.

But I agree with few others that if 660k is what it would have cost to potentially keep him, that would not at this stage of our clubs plan have been a wise move.
I believe our 5 year plan is foremost to create a self sustaining SL club that constantly competes in the top 6. As much as success on the field is a key part, to try to do that by retaining one player, at the cost of other vital areas, is not big picture planning.
I would dearly have loved to see him sign and stay, but I believe there is a reason it has not happened.
(Plus how many other quality players and future quality players can $660 bring if we do have that available).

I too am saddened by this, however I would love to know how much of a rise in salary is that,it must be huge compered to what he’s on now. I’m a little confused as a few weeks ago Lammy said our retention was going well and we had pretty much got who we wanted to keep sorted. I hope this is the only one that comes out of the blue. I think it would be better if Asiata said these things after the season ends. I know he will be professional and give 100% for Leigh until his contract ends but those comments don't sit well with me. I want people like Hanley and Adrian Lam, saying how much they love being at Leigh. I'm a Leyther through and through and supported them for 60 years, and as far as I'm concerned Asiata can go now if he can't wait to be with his Hull family. I can't feel the same about him now.
