It isnt a ' given ' that everybody should go to watch the rugby, it is an entertainment business first and foremost, provide entertaiment in an exciting enviroment and work from there

Spot on. It is harder than ever now with a superfluous amount of tv channels, on demand viewing, games consoles, tablets, smart phones etc etc to help people pass time on a dreary Sunday. All clubs need to really try hard to make their games unmissable. The example I always use is Leeds Rhinos, whenever I have been there whether it is a Monday night or a Sunday evening they always make the whole event, not just the 80 minutes of RL feel like a huge event. Replicate that and you are well on the way to success.

Clubs will just go back to loans which is just as much of a pain because the parent club can still recall a player at the drop of a hat. The only good thing to come out of it is Tom Spencer, we may have never had him otherwise. And didn't Ryan Brierly originally come on a DR?

I agree that the demise of the DR program is a big positive, and that we should go it our own way from the Wigan deal,
But who are you suggesting to "grow a pair" ?
Surely not the supporters that stepped in and put their own money on the table to take our club forward as the BOM.

Lets us be under no illusions, the dual reg system has served us well, and as has been pointed out we have used it more before our ' partnership ' , the reason we used it? , well in theory it is a good idea, but as usual like lots of ideas in RL personal ( club ) priorities get in the way of whats best for the game

It should never have been used as a replacement for the reserve competition, the logistics in Australia make it neccessary there, here we dont have that problem

So why did we agree to partner? Money, plain and simple, before the RFL brought in the ' you must partner to DR ' we had already budgeted to have 2/3 players just as we had in previous years, so to attempt to remain reasonably competitive ( top 4 finish ) we had no choice

But as we have seen with certain players and other clubs have found out as well, it doesnt work, simple as

So I have no doubt it wont happen again
