I don't think barely 200 fans added on average to their gates will make much if any difference to gates that need to be around 2000-3000.
For their 1st season in our League they already have more going for them that we could learn from.

They also got half a page dedicated and snippet on back page about TO v Le Leyth in their local paper......As a much smaller rugby town without much competition sporting wise we barely get that in local. Goodness knows what writeup they got after beating us.
Also Leigh shirts where clocked a few times while we was walking, and connection made. But never spotted the famous posters though.

I think this is the attempt to bring back the boring "F" debate back by a poster who thinks we shouldn't worry about SL until we are sorted in this league 1st, but can't help bringing it up.
As Popman has said we won't get in SL in 2012. IMO We have too many volunteer workers instead of professional paid people to sort us out at the top and get us on right track. But of course we got no money, and not enough fans as yet. But of course if 2000 fans cancelled their holidays to Majorca etc and spent money in Leigh instead and donated to club we would be flying towards 2012

So maybe the time to start telling things how they are , and how they will be

Rather than chasing the impossible dream

So why keep bringing the whole thing up? They are well in front of us in a franchise race that we had little chance of winning anyway.

Why bother when Palma Pirates come in to the Championship in a few years time?

Just to remind people of some of the hypocrisy of happily paying a fortune to go on a weekend pish up in france that doesn't benifit our club at all when they are moaning about the price and quality of a beer or a hot dog back home

These same people will be grumbling about us not spending money we dont have to bring in some experience or how other clubs seem able to outbid us for players

We have had one fan post on here a thread about how he has spent almost a grand so far this year supporting his club but he seems to forget that of that grand the club has probably only recieved £ 140/200 in revenue

We are where we are , we have an almost impossible hill to climb , we will not even start to climb it until we start to think differently , until we accept what and where we are and the almost blind faith we will have to show to make even the 1 st step

Top post and doesn`t it highlight the point of why anyone ( fan ) would want to put any of their hard earned cah ino the club.................. If I win the Euro Lottery and the r/o .... I`d buy 3 boxes ..max ..family,friends ,a nd ex work colleagues..... doesnt stop me being a Leyther just a bit wise to the apathy within the town.........

TO are not our threat, they are in. Its the Widnes, Cas,Wakey, HKR, sALFORDS

I can understand above if it was hundreds paid out just to watch 80 mins of rugby like we do normally, but it wasn't and seems a strange thing to say. It made a big big change to the norm, to experience seeing Leigh playing a competitive game in Europe - which SL had to themselves up to this season. It was a good weekend with a game of rugby thrown in. You may as well have included Leythers other holidays in the year as I said earlier or gain more thousands by not going to any away games and paying it to the club.

And just to think that some of those 'volunteer workers' had to forego the chance of a jolly in France, to ensure things would be in place for the Featherstone game!

It was me with the thousand pounds qoute and i dont want a medal i spend it because am a leigh fan and always will be...However you are right we have to be realistic and until a) a rich benefactor arrives ...dreaming or b) we get a pro active go get em commercial manager/dept we are sliding further behind ....further and further behind

Rugby isnt about the 70`s and 80`s of part timers run by part timers sky have seen to that so we either try (again hard without cash i know) to go with it or we say this is us this is our level get used to it and get behind us ..no more impossible dreams..
