Well that was a tough afternoon.

Players were dropping like flies. McNally and Worthington going off early badly affected our game plan. Could prove to be a costly afternoon on the injury front!

Ryan clearly isn't up to speed yet. I imagine the idea was for him to play the last 20 mins but Rangi being out meant he had to start. He just couldn't seem to get into the game at all.

Defence out wide was very poor, our handling was awful and the number of offloads we allowed Wire to get was embarrassing.

Took us 26 minutes in the 2nd half to complete a set of 6, completion rate was beyond bad.

McNally and Tonga both out for a good while. Worthington looked in a bad state and somebody (Higson?) copped a nasty cannonball tackle. Would expect the culprit (Clark?) to get a ban for that.

Not many positives from today. Hock and Dixon went well, Higham and Weston looked the part too.

Wire looked very strong, Ben Currie tore us to shreds today.

Child is a to$$er and agree about his reffing of the PTB but we had much bigger problems than just the ref today.

Hopefully can act as a reality check ahead of the Batley game. Hopefully we can get Hansen, Beswick, Maitua and Chase back in for that game.

Not bothered about the high tackles we gave as good as we got and got away with a few!! It was the difference in the ptb! They got on a massive roll and we couldn't get the defensive set! They really did look the part today wire! Speed all over the park and defence was very good out wide! Hock went really well today as did Weston he could become a hero at Leigh!! Bad un about McNally! As I mentioned pownall positional sense was shocking! Do we try Ryan at 6? Riddy and Ryan looked very lumbersome today, days like that rangi will come into he's own with a bit of the off the cuff stuff!

One thing that wound me up at the time, i was genuinely concerned and shouting at the field was Worthington's injury.

He lay there, didn't twitch, didn't move a muscle, completely lifeless and it took way too long for ANYONE to attend to him about a minute close to 2.

I feared the worse at the time.

You can't blame Child for everything , he didn't miss any tackles,we were beaten by a better side and injuries disrupted our team plans,I thought Higham was our MoM,and Hock had a blinder took a lot of stick,I still think some of our players are not SL standard ,but we won't play Warrington every week , we must base our season on getting to the middle 8s and then moving forward, Brierley again tried everything ,he was making the Tacoles as well.
Hock for me was so committed he had a right go at 2 Leigh player's who missed tackles resulting in tries , if the Wolves hadn't dropped so much ball in the last quarter we could have been facing a 60 point defeat.
Still it won't be like that at Batley,I could be wrong here but I think that's 2 games now without making a break, none today, and I don't remember one last week. Will I be at Batley?Of course I will I'm a Leyther. a014.gif

Ian I have to agree with you there. That's one thing I actually said at the end of the game, we haven't made any breaks. Is it something to be worried about? I'm not sure at this point in time.

Not really something I'm worried about! You don't keep breaking super league defence willy nilly! Our handling was just to slow today nobody straightened the ball to stop the sliding defence so Warrington just drifted with the ball!! We won't come against that every week I really think batley will cop it in 2 weeks time!

Don't think anyone is (or could) blaming James "mind of a" Child for the result or even the magnitude of the result today. However once again he showed how totally inept he is. Wire were constantly roughing it up in the tackle and putting in lots of high shots, Child never spoke to Warrington but was constantly in the ear of Higham and Hock clear he had no idea what was going on on the pitch (as usual) which is why it all became a bit bad tempered. Watched a few Miners games last year & honestly the NCL refs were a far higher quality then Child, it beggars belief that he remains a professional ref when there's so many refs so much better at all levels of the game. Before the usual ref defenders start I know I wouldn't be good enough to do it, if only James Child was as good at assessing his own abilities we'd have far more entertaining and fair games.

Oggy when the dry pitches arrive we will give a few teams a good towelling, I'm not sure Batley ground will be like that, John Kear is probably watering the pitch as we speak, granted we played a top 4 SL team today , and will come good later on, I will make my opinions after around 6 games when hopefully we are top of the League and have just given Fax a tonking.
