I presumbe that there will be a press release by Leigh officials condeming the offensive gestures used by people representing Gateshead Thunder leaving the field at full time

I've taken Alex all over the place watching Leigh, been to finals, internationals, Bolton games, all sorts. I've explained to her that sometimes grown men say and sing things that they would not normally do.

There's no point sheltering them from it because they hear it on TV, in the playground, in the street, everywhere. It does not make it right, but its a fact of life. I even read the 'T' word on the BBC website recently.

It's not for me to tell any other parent how to bring up their kids; I can't hide it from her and would be naive to think she would never repeat it one day so I'd prefer to explain what it is, why it is, discuss it in a mature way that dilutes the issue when it arises, and when I'll play holy hell if I ever hear her repeat it.

go into any secondary school and you will hear a lot worse language (and thats just some of the teachers although it is in the staff room ) you will also hear bad language i junior schools, these enviroments are were kids learn this language not at rugby matches

The gateshead fans were whingeing right from the start.

On three separate occasions I heard the 'they're only here because they got free coaches laid on', on three occasions I clarified that I had actually paid for my travel in the form of a donation to my teams independent supporters club, which seemed to shut them up.

Instead of welcoming the fact that all of those that travelled actually paid to get in the ground and then for refreshments once inside.

Can I just extend an open invitation to any other championship club that should they wish to lay on free or discounted coaches for away games that they will be welcomed with open arms at the LSV.

And at no point will I be jumping on a message board because their singing was perhaps a little louder than ours!

The real shame is that this is now a major talking point as if going to a game and being passionate is indeed wrong. Lets not forget that on this site this year we have had numerous away fans - Fax, Barrow, Wakey, Widnes etc... come on here and commend the way that our away supporters have cheered the team on. Perhaps we should dig them out and post them on the thunder site!

Chunder arent use to having more than a few hundred fans anyway so they probably arent use to people cheering and supporting their team.

Sounds like a bit of jealousy to me from the unpassionate Chunder fans, if we play them again we should all bring inflattable Kangaroo's and any other Australian stuff we have to make their team feel at home...

Just been reading some of the comments on the last tackle forum again and 1 post states that the Gateshead club contributed to the cost of the coaches.Can anyone clarify if they did or did not.PS it wont make any difference if they did, i wont ever go there again.

I heard after the game they gave the club discount on the amount of tickets sold, this is irellevant anyway.

...and the coaches were already paid for before they gave the discount I take it. In which case that poster is incorrect, maybe chinese whispers will kick in and it will become 'Gateshead even let the Leythers in for nowt' as a thankyou

after watching the game again last night actually during the game there was very little 'obscene' chants heard but then again our Dave was commentating through a headset mic which doea tend to muffle the background noise somewhat

Yes Derick the coaches were paid for the discount gateshead gave the club were for the match tickets, which the club recieved FRIDAY after all the coaches were sold out, therefore it had no bearing at all in how many coaches we sold the fact that they gave the club discount.

They were only given the discount on sunday

i wouldnt worry about it to be honest! i was there to watch fax earlier in the seasopn, and reading some posts on that other site, it sounded asif fax fans were kicking off!lol

the gateshead few gave as good as they got.....and there was very little swearing.......

i remember 1 gateshead fan a big fella, who to be fair travelled down to the shay......standing and goading the fax faithful, when we were goin well behind....
who were putting money behind the bar and in the snack shed

They are still whittering on about it like we caused a war or trashed the place, what a real sad set of people.
I suggest we ALL boycott the place in future.
Let them get on with their 400 fans, eating their prawn sarnies, and sipping tea with their pinkies stuck up, and the players families sitting in the stand awaiting their son to give them an hand signal as they leave the field
