Quote: Starbug "Thats the point Keith, nobody knows, because at this moment the ' interested ' parties would not all seem to want to show their ' hands ' , so the best way to resolve this problem would be a shareholders meeting, where in essence they can decide the ' call '

Then the ' freely known around town ( I obviously need to ' get out ' more ) people ' can decide their ' bet ' or ' raise ' , but still commit to showing their cards'"

Steve

We have spoke and I'm a cards on table person so I won't hide I am one of the potential new investors.

I have stated to a club official that I'm willing to play a part in a NEW set up if I feel it's right.

My hope was that someone by now would have addressed the shareholder situation and either got at least a yes or no from all on the basis of will you either come back on board and invest the same as other potential investors??? or will you give up your shares???

When I say a new set up if Keith Phil and/ or anyone else want to sit on a board fine but i personally will expect them to at least match my investment over a an agreed term either 3 or 5 years regardless of any old or new issues.

If not willing to do so then leave or I will it's simple really.

I will not speak about who else is or isn't involved as its not my place to but I will say i haven't moved from my original view that it needs to ideally be NEW people with no previous IMO to avoid all the politics and connections to the past if it's to ever break the mould and succeed.

Central to my involvement and investment will be share release and also a fan focused mentality and a break from the historic tried and failed route. By this I mean getting people like yourself with great ideas back on some rung of the ladder and creating a structure that is long term and community/ fan orientated one.

Trust this clarifys my position which Trevor and the other potential investors are aware of.

While there are things not best served to post on here I don't do secret service and don't judge books by covers I will form my own opinions and keep an open mind on people but I will decide at he end of the day who I feel I can and can't work with and if I'm not convinced its right for the town and people of Leigh I will stand aside and let people crack on.

Quote: j.c "Well 'to me' administration and a season in champ one is better than whats happening now and whats likely to happen in the future.

There is so much fat hanging off this club that it simply cannot breathe anymore, there are so many people who say they have the clubs best interests at heart when in reality its only there own interest that matter.

Even if this financial mess gets sorted its just a matter of time before the next hits'"

Correct time for real change not just a mix up of old and new people with same historic ways which is what I fear could happen.

2015 - major missed opportunity, 2016 - stronger teams = harder task (no problem there then), 2017 - OMG What now!!!:953.jpg

Well personally I hope Admin can be avoided. The structure of the game is about to be changed and we will miss out again. I hope they are looking at options to avoid it. Champonship 1 will be a disaster and we will never get out. IMO once they have sorted the top 20 clubs that will be it. I can't afford to be following the club from Lands End to John O'Groats either

I also believe admin would be a disaster with potential changes afoot in RL structures
I also believe we have people coming forward who love this club, understand the challenge and opportunity and are prepared to back a vision financially
Thank you to all of them

Quote: SRW1996 "Keith

Derek is a passionate guy from what im told and obviously has a deep passion for Leigh RL and has indicated his willingness to get back involved yesterday.

I take my hat off to him if he's willing to put his hand in his pocket but let's not turn Leigh Centurions into the Derek Beaumont show.

Leigh Centurions need major surgery at least if not a complete new start to go forward and Derek will only be one of a number of people who take this club forward at this stage as far as I'm aware.

The touchdown club have announced talks between like minded buisness people are taking place which is correct and while Derek may have made a commitment to the current board to assist with wages if the rumour mill be correct as far as I'm aware he is at this stage just one of the group of mentioned buisness people entering into talks and I'm told it is not his intention at this stage to be the major investor.

It's ok saying Derek is Derek but if he's part of consortium investing the same amount as others and if he is only an equal part of professional board then unless his views are shared by a majority he will have to conform.

Anyone wanting to be head honcho and be louder or more forceful than anyone else will need to buy that right as far as I'm concerned. It's buisness and needs to be treated as such emotion has no place in a professional enviroment.

Andy'"

Would that be the Derek Beaumont show, starring Paul Rowley as company whistleblower and orchestrated by dad, former ceo and Beaumont employee Allan Rowley?

You say you want a fresh start. New blood. A break from the past.

Don't think that's going to be easy. Looks to me like your successful canvassing for fan ownership has forced the old guard to show their hands early. The cash flow situation gave them a stage on which to wave a bit of cash to win hearts and minds. Add to that the fact that 50% of the shares would vote with Allan and I'd say you've little chance of a clean slate or a fresh start.

I know Andy wanted a frsh start with new faces but in the current circumstances that is going to be a little difficult as quite simply I don't think there is enough new people out there willing to invest time and money into the Club. Therefore the most likely way forward is a mix of the two. By nature this type of involvement will attract businessmen and characters that are used to making their own decisions and having their own way! Therefore unless one man tips in the vast majority of cash then comprimise will be required on all sides which is easier said than done. However what is the alternative? The Club continue on a downward spiral, the gates continue to go down and the best players leave because they are not getting paid. Alas there is not the perfect solution so I just hope that all the people that have thrown their hat in the ring to help our Club (and they must all be applauded) can find a way to work together in order to put Leigh RLFC on a firmer footing for a brighter future.

I presumed that Derek offered this money as a gesture to the players and the club he loves (and well done to him for that) and I wasn't in the room so I don't know for sure but why would everyone think that he's 'taking over'?

Surely he offered this with no strings attached or did he actually say he was launching a take over and was going to pump large sums of money into the club?

I think someone said mish, although I could be wrong as I wasn't there either, that he said he was coming back on board, now don't know what he meant by that.

Good of Derek to put is hand in his pocket but i would agree he is to close to the Rowleys to do any good long term for the club am i correct in saying Derek was on the Board then walked becouse he could not get on with the other members of the board
I agree with Steve the only way forward for Leigh Centurians is to form a new board with new board members who have no previos baggage from the past
If you look at Derek Beaumonts past he is to close to people who held post at the club
Lets have a new start so why dont the club put out a statement on the website asking for new board members
and lets see who puts their names forward and how much they are prepared to put into the club
But we cant carry on year after year having the same money problems then looking for a short term fix from the supporters by putting their hands in their pockets
The money problems have come from one thing the income /expenditure have been set wrong we are spending more than we are earning so doomed to be in debt salaries /wages/contracts need re-thinking and bringing into line with what money we have comming in

His leaving was nothing to do with other board members. He and his family were threatened by 'fans' so he decided to leave for his families sake, at least that's what my old mans brain recollects icon_smile.gif
