Quote: JENKY "Perfectlly justified (in fact no need for a explanation - it was a genuine query of when we last didn't produce a programme or a team sheet)
Its a pity about as it breaks a really good record of production (and probably underlines just how bad things are for our club in terms of volunteers and finances) even a 4 pager would have been a record of the event but when its run with such short staffing its amazing we actually have a quality programme week to week ,let alone one of the best in the game.

Really hope your personal fortunes improve and sorry to hear of your bereavement.
If theres anything I can help with (bearing in mind I'm pretty useless at anything IT) during your time away please drop me a line.'"

Thanks for the offer and the kind thoughts Jenky. I thought I ought to provide an explanation, as supporters, I believe, are entitled to one - especially in an instance such as this. (I'd no idea how far back it was, since we last failed to produce a programme) I believe the role of 'Programme Editor' has always (or for a long time at any rate!) been a voluntary one, but you're right - staff are spread thinly at the club, and there is no allowance for any period of absence.

728 was the combined attendance for the day.

I think it was more a suicide note rather than a plan. There was enough time to bite the bullet, admit he/they were wrong and come up with something more amenable to the paying public.

I went to todays game , it wasnt a Classic , but i enjoyed it , im a Leyther though and wouldnt let a few Quid stop me from watching my team , i thought the East Leeds lads played with plenty of passion and commitment , as did our lads , good to see Higgy back , giving PR more options in his choice of Squad , i will be at the Poker on Tuesday night , and at the LISA Quiz night on Wednesday , and at the Shay on Sunday , and i wont moan next season if Pauls players fund is cut .
Its not about what the club can do for you , its about what you can do for the Club , some seem in their element at todays Dismal attendance , for me it was not a good sight .

Charlie your loyalty is unquestioned although announcements of it are a bit repetitive. Your 'dismal' attendance could have been avoided but the only people who couldn't see it were the decision makers. Don't start whingeing about some fans being in their element, they made a choice not to attend and it shouldn't be up for criticism lest you lose some more. You may have a few quid spare but others may not.
A chance missed today don't go over the top in your defence of the crap decision.

Those are truly shocking figures. However, I wonder how much of a difference £10 for adults would have made? Would the crowd have been over 1300 if it was?

Well I went always do.

The number of my mates who didn't go told me why. I knew why before they told me.

Had I been asked about the unnecessary partnership announcement (as it is purely to ensure we have DC options as per last season apart from the fact that it can only be from one club)) and this ridiculous double header pricing system I could have told them.

We have fans forums LISA meetings don't tell me the folk who go to them
don't know it too.

Someone made these 2 crazy decisions without consulting LISA/Touchdown club members never mind using common sense. I have no idea why. icon_rolleyes.gif

I know it's not relevant, but looking at the Oxford RLFC site, they are charging £20 adult bus fare to the Shay which includes a ticket into the game. £10 for children. Wish all clubs could bring offers to the fans like this.

It was always going to be a poor attendance today as the season has shown people (for whatever reason) are losing interest / patience in Leigh (and dare I say it in RL in general).
The sport doesn't seem to be getting it right and is feeling the pinch and with respect I have concerns that our board honestly have the ideas needed for what the remaining Leigh fans and the Leigh public that could still be won over want to see (and what they are willing to pay).
We have had a number of 'own goals' by (and lets be totally honest here) a well meaning board trialing things out, its just unfortunate that the decisions made are going to speed up the clubs problems and these 'own goals' have to stop now as otherwise it moves from honest errors to incompetence.

Lets hope the RFL review the Challenge Cup (along with the entire structure of Pro / Semi Pro RL in Britain) before next season so the really low attendances can be stopped before it becomes serious.
I think it was Frank who said some time ago (perhaps in jest) that this cup game should have been played at Leigh East, in all honesty it could have been, and that should have alarm bells blaring out for anyone with a passing interest in our club.

The board has to step up, become flexible and really double the efforts (and yes I know they are working for nothing and doing there best), its regretable though that more is needed for our club just to stand still - let alone improve.

I hope we can progress through the rounds of the CC and next week are handed a home tie to build up support (and maybe as last season get the chance of a big name at home after that), we need some luck there is no doubt but equally our club needs to really pull the stops out, if that means more fan involvement then it HAS to happen.

A shocking gate was no surprise, the rot has to stop now.

Nothing to do with interest or patience IMO. Purely down to a CC game against amateur opposition along with finance issues, this being our 4th game at the LSV in 2 weeks. Oh yes and people failing to understand press releases and interviews with the coach.
