.'"
Well, tho I can't actually quote from balance sheets and I have no access to bank statements etc, I believe that Fev has been run on a self sufficient basis this year!
Of course that wonga we got for Briggsy and Zac and losing GF money helped, but nontheless, operating with a year of self sufficiency is no mean feat for a club outside SL who supports no fewer than 6 teams within it's brand!
The massive advantage we have of course is that our ground can make money for us. The initial investment/cash injection/call it what you will and lucrative sponsorship deals that our marketing gadgy has successfully negotiated for Fev has been successful in recruiting players capable of winning more money = more funds = more success etc.
We're not awash with cash. But we appear more stable than most for the mo. Only 5 years ago the @r_se was hanging out of my club!

| Quote: peggy "But, according to Maurice, AT had "passion" sadly due to a lack of "investment" the foundations for the future stability of the business are not in place when they so easily could have been.
1500 fans donating £30 for two months sounds great but is not achievable.
Sounds to me like Maurice is still upset because none of his playmates in the LISA gang would play his game.
Put that grudge down Maurice, you've been holding it for too long.'"
Peggy you didnt understand it then and you never will, your posts contradict and your selective quoting is rather pathetic.
We have a big hole caused by AT's situation, but made by the shambolic way the club was run and the stakeholders lack of transparency, a critical part of why we needed a trust then as we do now.
We have a huge task ahead, be part of the solution and no longer of the problem.

| Quote: maurice "Why do the uneducated keep refering to 'investments' - Sport isnt an investment its a passion that requires external income to balance the books. '"
Maurice why can't a sports club be an investment? There are thousands of investors that put their money into sporting ventures, they don't do it out of passion. Going back to my original point these investors will not continue to fund if their is no financial return. That isn't too difficult to understand is it? Even for the uneducated.
Better that than sponsored walks and bucket collections.

One end of the spectrum - Abramovic has pumped hundreds of millions into Chealsea and has written most of the debt off and as of yet - has had no return. Source:- Chealse Annual returns available from comapny house.
T'other end of the spectrum :- Mark Campbell, Andy McNeil and others have put much less than Abramovic into Fev - They are as much likely to see or expect a return on that initial investment as I am of being mistaken for Johnny Depp!!
There are plenty of other examples where people continue to support sporting clubs in the knowledge they will never get any return on their "sponsorship/investment/call it what you will"!

Clueless.
The return is the pleasure/pride they get from the investment, it is very rarely financial. The only 'investors' for financial reasons will be those that see assetts to be stripped.
Fundraising is an essential part of any stakeholder/community driven club, it brings unity, pride and a sense of belonging - try it sometime.

| It's very naive to say 'sponsors' only do it bevause they are passionate about RL!
See some of ours... DW Sports, Dominoes (2 local stores). Stobart nationwide firm. York fitness... All of them will be looking to and probably gaining a profit from their sponsorship (ok maybe not Stobart as such).

Do either you or Peggy know the difference between a sponsor and an investor?
A sponsor does it for a bit of a reasonably priced advertising, the investor - in sport at any rate - does it out of a personal interest.
Find out what Angels do in the theatre, and imagine a less optomistic version of that, and you have an RL investor. You never get your money back in sport unless it's one of a very small handful of football clubs.

| Why I specifically mentioned 'sponsors'!
Though sometimes you will get 'investors' who get profit / exposure one way or another as well as those simply funding a passion. See Stobart, part of the O'Connor group buy out deal etc etc.
