Quote: SRW1996 "If it's what the fans wanted and indeed the board then I would have to seriously consider the role but there are factors that may not make this possible sadly. The only thing I will promise you guys is I will always be a leyther and will always be true to what is right and stand up for the best interests of the club.

100% respect for John he's been a great figurehead for the club and is a nice man with good values.

His legacy as Chairman of the BOM and main focus in his time with us was repairing, rebuilding and growing relationships most notably with the RFL who have recently commented on how they have never seen Leigh ran so professionally and also with LSV who during Johns tenure have really worked hard to make the partnership flourish. We can not ever afford to go backwards or return to the past!

I have exchanged messages with JR and we will be sharing a pint on the North Stand together very soon and I'm sure he will always have a soft spot for our great club in his heart.

Whoever takes the reigns will be a figurehead as the board shares business duties but in my opinion needs to be someone who the fans relate to, understand, respect and trust and can be a long term appointment now and not just a short term stop gap to give us the continuity over the coming years.

If you read this John thanks for your friendship and your efforts, it was a pleasure and can't wait to see you soon mate.

Best Wishes

Andy Mazey'"

I agree with what Andy says.

As for the future, I see it as essential that the new incumbent is a well-respected, professional individual, in order to maintain the relationships with the RFL, sponsors, local community and supporters. In my opinion, we cannot afford to damage any of those relationships, by putting the wrong individual in the job.

Very big shoes to fill and not an easy appointment.

Either would be a great choice.

However does it really matter. If the Chelsea fc chairman (Bruce buck) left I'm sure not many fans would be that concerned. If the owner left (Abramovich) most would be extremely worried.

John did a great job in steering the new board, but for whatever reason he's left. Well done john for a job well done & what a great bloke he is.

For me the more worrying thing is the comments on this unofficial chat room by directors of the club, firstly Neil Wilcox praised three directors for their good work( but excluded Andy mazey ) Andy responded that he wasn't pleased with this comment.

Some fans have suggested Andy as chairman but he 's responded that it may not be possible. What's happening?

We beLeighve.

Seems to me John Roddy has resigned because of work commitments.

I honestly don't think there is any problem between any of the BOM.

Alan Platt and jackie wasn't mentioned or Steve openshaw and the newest one so don't read too far into Neil's comments.

Chairmen and Directors resign all the time for various reasons , mostly because they feel they can no longer give the Post the commitment it deserves , John Roddy is a Businessman who most likely has other things to attend to in Business .Lets stop the Theories ,and Rumours , and get back to supporting the Coach , Team , and the rest of the BOM ,and let them get on with doing the Good job they are currently doing .

Well, I've thrown my hat in the ring and I will be introducing a few changes.

The LSV is to be renamed The Lobby Bowl.
All supporters are to undergo a DNA test to verify that they don't possess any Wiggin genes.
Salfordlad is to be tagged.

And here in lies the main concern for me and I'm sure all true fans of this club!

A Chairman standing down is not a major problem in isolation but after what happened when Arthur Thomas sadly had to stand down it was unanimously agreed that this club should never ever be allowed to fall under the control of one individual ever again. If the rumours round town are true John won't be the last of the new guys to leave and according to someone who works at the club I know Rob Parker has not been seen or heard from since John walked. It's sad but seems like despite a fantastic 12 months orchestrated by John and Andy and the guys turning this clubs fortunes round old names and faces are seemingly coming to fore and I hope I'm wrong but we are now back to having a major shareholder and effectively and owner meaning one man has ultimately control if true and this is not what the club, town and community needs long term or I don't believe wants.

Allan Rowley Arthur's main man when he owned the club and a current employee of one of the Directors rumoured to be the owner was referred to as a club Director is this true? This new era was sold on transparency and honesty time to practice what has been preached guys!!!!!

All you say is exactly what I'd been told too which is why I'm so concerned.

I try not to get involved on here nowadays but let me kill the bull about rob parker stone dead now.

I spent 4 hours with him on tuesday evening at our weekly coordination meeting. Those people wondering where he was wont have seen him leave work at 9pm because they're sat at home watching telly.

I've been in contact with him all week, their office has moved in lsv because they needed more space so the builders have been in so he took a few days off and worked from home bearing in mind he's worked more weekends than not given our home games and has a young family.

The last time I spoke with him was a couple of hours ago sat in his office.

Steve
