I thought it stood for impossible - impossible to stop that is.

its the same concept as the pitches ont east. no problems when the pitch is damp or wet but when it dry as a bone either through frost or hot weather they become skin shredding! am sure the solution to the problems of grazing would be to lightly spray the pitch before the game and half time to give the surface a slick feel!

Have Widnes not shot themselves in the foot by having a lightning quick pitch when they'd be better of with a mud bath?

They're going to take some hammerings this year.

They be ok when Watts,Phelps,Kite,Flynn,Davies,and Briscoe are back.Alex Brown should get a chance as he is fast as lightening.I don't know much about the pitch, but will it be better in the summer and a bit of water.Maybe vests be good to wear.

The issue is, that if you get a cut you have to go off and get patched up to stop the bleeding, if you have blood on your shirt you have to change the shirt. This was to stop the spread of blood diseases (hepatitus, HIV etc.).

What's the difference if your elbows and knees are bleeding, and someone tackling you around the legs gets a blooded knee against his lips.

I wouldn't be surprised if Widnes scabs are temporarily playing some where else before the end of the season

When the majority of the players last night came away with cuts & graces to thier elbows & knees it does appear the fully synthetic pitch gives carpet style burns. If this happens frequently as a result of the plastic playing surface oppossing teams are going to have concerns about the safety of players & complain with Widnes probably feeling the brunt of the 'i' pitch with injury's caused due to training & playing thier regularly. Training on grass may be thier saviour to help prevent this kind of constant fiction & leading to openings to old cuts & grazes. I suppose you have to give it the benefit of doubt & see how they get on but I'm sceptical of this plasic 'i' pitch myself.

Most teams will get grass burns this week end and on hard summer pitches, Teams kicked up a fuss about East's at first.

If players are picking up cuts and burns off this surface that they wouldn't pick up on a normal surface then it will have to be improved to reduce that risk.
