Murphy without a shadow of a doubt is Leighs greatest ever signing and the best ever player ive ever seen he was in his prime the Worlds number 1 player in either code..It was sensational when Leigh signed him has coach and even more so when they managed to get his playing registration he was the best and no halfback in my opinion has ever come near him since..

I agree with all that you say, I cant think of another player I'd choose before Murph in any team and without doubt its the shrewdest bit of business we ever did!
We have however grabbed the headlines on a number of occasions in the past, Trevor Allan, Joe Egan (world record signing), Jim Ledgard, Bev Risman (England RU star) all these players brought the headlines. E.McDonald Bailey (world record holder for 100mtrs/yds) probably brought the biggest headline of them all however, that really was a publicity stunt although, his scoring record was sensational itself, one game, one try!!
There is no doubt that Fui has also captured the headlines and, full marks to the club for pulling this off! I look forward to Fui's debut and i'm sure he will repay the clubs investment in him

Definitely King Alex. Pity we couldn't keep him and he went to Warrington along with Ashcroft and Chissy, or we could have probably made it a hat trick of Wembley appearances in the 70s.

Potter was a big signing but then again so was David Stephenson and he cost about the same so record signings dont make for 'best signings'

For those of us under a certain age, I think Moimoi is a justified shout (though I would say Tommy Martyn might have been in with a shout had he played in Australia or had more international recognition).

Moimoi based on reputation alone? How can you choose a player who hasn't even played a game as your greatest signing, even if your young and never seen your past legends play. Surly at the moment Brierley is a better signing than Moimoi as he has done the business. For all the hype Moimoi as of yet hasn't made a tackle, run the ball in or put 1 single bum on a seat.
