Tis right. You would think there had been a chainsaw massacre in the Top Bridge.

Walking back from Leigh, trying to get back over the bridge towards Pennington, I was politely told by one of the eleventy seven coppers to 'walk via Mather Lane'.

Given I would still be walking come daylight I ended up getting a £5 taxi for what is normally a 10 minute walk.

Its either serious or there is nobody getting robbed, mugged, or worse tonight.

it was VERY serious, but i will not go into it on here at this moment in time


AN INCIDENT OF THIS MAGNITUDE HAS TO BE THOROUGHLY INVESTIGATED


personally, i think you are out of order to question the officers response


you would want answers if it had happened to an immediate family member

Sounds very serious indeed

I dont think asking 'can I walk over the bridge officer?' at 1am is out of order.

Every fatal Road Traffic Accident is now treated as a 'murder' incident.

I think Starbug was refering to the cars that turned up a long time after the incident and just parked up and did nothing. There was 2 vans 2 motorbikes, an ambulance and about 8 Police cars.

As a Police Officer, it would appear that the ones questioning the Police's actions have no idea about investigating a crime scene.

Oweing to the fact that it was a tragic fatal road traffic incident, there are all manner of people that need to attend the scene.

The initial response officers, traffic patrols, senior investigating officers, cid, collision reconstruction unit, further officers to help maintain a sterile cordon so the matter can be investigated thoroughly, to name but a few.

All these people will be coming from different places and distances, thus the time it takes to get there. The collision reconstruction unit for instance, investigate serious and fatal accidents, they are massively important in securing convictions and explaining what has happened at the scene. The officer will have been on call and will have had to then make his way to the scene.

We must not forget that this is a tragedy for all concerned and the Police will do their upmost to investigate the matter.
