According to YorkshireLive, who I have to say are normally pretty accurate in such matters, we are in for Owen Trout from Huddersfield. We are apparently 'billed as favourites' to land his signature.

I do enjoy this time of the season

23 year old prop, who appears to be much sought after. We definitely need some more British props in the team.
Having practically avoided relegation already we can plan for the rest of the season and next season. Leigh appear to be a desirable destination for once, making Chezzy's job much easier. Certainly interesting times ahead.

I would also be looking at Sam Walters. He's a very promising young talent. Think he's 6feet 8 or 9.

Agreed, if he is the same beanpole that played against Leigh for Leeds in the pre-season 'friendly' then I thought he had a good game and either offloaded well in the tackle or threatened to do so. Thought he was a bit of a nuisance so, would not say no if, if, the club was in for him.

Another one out of contract, I believe, is Dan Norman at Saints. Although Saints say they rate him highly he cannot seem to get a game with them for love nor money and always seems to be out on loan in the Championship. I thought he showed real promise for the short time that he was with us early last season. He is a seriously big unit, British, relatively young and a good hard driving no nonsense prop. For me that is a tick, tick, tick and tick again in all the right boxes.

Cannot wait to see who we have landed. Lammy 'the Legend' seemed pretty chuffed with the club's transfer business in his last set of interviews last week.

Since I have mentioned him, I have to confess that I still have to pinch myself that we have someone as good and generally classy as Adrian Lam as our coach. The pies fans who wanted him out when he was with them clearly know nowt!

Sam Walters was very good in the Saints game, although he was lucky to stay on the field after putting in a shoulder charge. I would say very much a work in progress, but with bags of potential.

Andy Last says that Cas have missed out on Owen Trout - doesn't mean Leigh have signed him though:

Frankie Halton inbound. Great signing which gives us more depth in a problem area for us. Not convinced we will see much of Hughes or Wardle this season.

A Leyther - but he's not been getting in the HKR team so not "super-lunar" about this rumour.

I hope it doesn’t mean the end of ODonnell at the end of the season.

O'Donnell and Holmes have been doing big minutes due to a shortage of 2nd rowers in the team. Welcome addition and a Leigh lad to boot.

Lammy keeps talking about Leigh having one of the smallest squads in SL. I have taken a straw poll of the start of the season squads:
Hull KR – 32
Huddersfield – 34
Wigan – 30
Leeds – 36
St Helens – 32
Warrington – 33
Wakefield – 30
Salford – 28
Castleford – 37
Catalans – 32
Leigh – 26
Hull FC - 36

Only Leigh and Salford are under the 30 man squad numbers - the intention was always to recruit now once Lammy and Chezzy had seen the strengths and weaknesses in the current squad. 2nd Row is where the injuries have kicked in and consequently Leigh drafted in Shorrocks, who has been ever present in the Pies team since returning. Frankie is hopefully the first of the forwards. The other area for concern is Centre, with Chamberlain seen as not SL material.

At Half Back, Reynolds seems to have cemented the spare birth, with Mellor playing the utility role.

I am guessing Trout will not be coming any time soon.
