That game was winnable even though Halifax played the better Rugby. Our discipline should have been better, our only plan was kick high to the right it worked once but that was the exception and repetitive kicks went to Halifax hands. Our right flank defence was woeful.
Hewer got a couple wrong but it would be churlish to blame him for the defeat.

Reffing I don’t think we made one clear break all the game, not much between these two teams, I thought Fax slow the game down at every opportunity.
Pownhall had a mare of a game poor in defence and crazy to moan after his yellow card.I agree about our kicking game , Josh Woods should try running at the defensive line.Great support from the Leythers though not good with some chants.
I’m not to downbeat though,Douglas ,Riddy,Luke Adamson had good games, I think we can beat Fev next week, but let’s try giving our backs a chance to run.
The turning point for me was the Ref giving an obstruction to a Fax, when a Fax clearly knocked on early in the second half, Fax scored back to back tries from this.

I'd replace Josh Woods with Olly Russell next week....he will 'run at defences'.

A disappointing result - yes. A disappointing performance - yes, although Fax deserve credit for pressurising us into mistakes. However, it's no disgrace coming within seven points (somewhat fortunately) of a team that is confident of top four.

Not that it influenced the final result, but how poor were Gareth Hewer and his t.j's today? (for both teams I must add) I'm not surprised at players getting frustrated!

perhaps we need a change or variation in tactics rather than personnel im sure when our stand off gets fit he too will "run at the line"

Riddy & Woods are too similar. Russell should give us other options than just relying on a kicking game.

The 'kicking game' worked v Toulouse when we were winning narrowly and the team was playing well. When not doing so, you need a 'spark' like somebody making a break
So are you saying we shouldn't give Olly Russell a chance ?
I only suggested it because clubs don't have 'backs on the bench' so obviously it's start with him, or not at all.
As for a 'winger' Adam Swift will do nicely....

It was a bit of a ' war of atrittion ' with both teams trying to wear each other out , in the end Fax had that bit more confidence in offloading and speed in getting the ball wide , they are after all a squad that has been together a couple of years now

and yes when chasing a game just keep putting up a kick wont cut it , the kick Woods put straight into touch should have been ' run ' with the centre or wing being the kicker behind the Fax line
Yes they scored out wide twice in the 2 nd half but both times that side was outnumbered , once because it was mcnally making the tackle in the centre to stop them scoring , just good play by a clever player like murrel
Overal not a bad display , and we will get better as the games go on , as long as we dont lose too many players , yes Johnny that applause will cost a couple of games , we cannot afford stuff like that anymore
It could quite easily be a few more weeks before we get any more points on the table , but we expected that anyway

Luke Douglas is only here for a month, so next week will be his final game for us (probably) Unless Saints send him back for another 1 month loan.
