He was guilty - no question of that - but NINE matches? The only player injured in the incident was the one he was misguidedly attempting to avenge.

The process seems to place far more emphasis on "potential to cause injury", rather than actually causing injury. I'm afraid we need to offload Jamie now, for our own good, and probably his. (I wonder what his punishments would be at another club? )

I think the key here is not what injury was done by Acton - but what injury COULD have already been done prior to what he did and how acton's actions could have impacted on that.
Two rugby players have lost their lives in the last 12 months to accidental head injuries. Imagine if he'd have done that in a similar situation. Imagine if Bird had, for instance, cracked a neck vertebrae in the previous collision - what Acton did COULD have had a massive impact as he had no way of knowing the extent of birds injuries before he did what he did. He's lucky it's just 9- and I reckon Leigh expected this given they spent all that time preparing.
