Leigh Centurions are delighted to announce the appointment of Mike Norris as Chairman of the Club, with immediate effect.

A current member of the Board of Management, Mike was unanimously voted in the Chair and was more than happy to accept the challenging position of continuing the Club’s quest of attaining a place in Super League.

Mike, 50, is the owner of Norris Biomedical Ltd, strategic advisor to a number of early stage medical technology companies. Brought up on Baker Street in Westleigh, he has been a season ticket holder since 1977 and his all-time favourite Leigh player is John Woods.

Mike was one of the team which came in to run the club twelve months ago and has recently moved his Corporate Finance business to offices at the Leigh Sports Village. He will continue with the excellent work he was doing with the financial side of the business in tandem with his new role as Chairman.

Commenting on his appointment Mike said: “It gives me great pleasure to take the helm and continue to guide our team to achieve the goal we set ourselves twelve months ago.

“Head Coach Paul Rowley and his team are achieving our goals on the field and it is my challenge to ensure the rest of the business matches the same level of performance.

“We can then continue to roll out our plans in the measured way we believe will enable us to fulfil our ambitions. I am confident I can oversee that strategy and lead us along the path and look forward to doing so.”

Sound choice I was impressed with his TV broadcast at the beginning of the year. Love how this board don't let the grass grow under there feet. It keeps the doubters quiet.

Just one thing to note about the press release - I'm disappointed that we don't mention Featherstone once, nevermind the required half dozen times.

Will we never learn anything from Fev? They're gunning for the Super Bowl don't ya know?!
