Well, What a great atmosphere last night, it was electric for 2 hours . . . I reckon there was at least 1500 Leythers in the North stand Last night . . . this is more than most games this season at LSV . . . I hope that the preformance the team put out last night (and may I add how proud I am of all the lads and the courage and dedication they put in for the full 80 mns) makes peole come out in force for the remainder of the season. You could tell on the lads faces when they came over to the fans at the end what the support means to them and the passion the team has to play for Leigh.

We may be out of the CC but with that sort of performance and that sort of support from the fans (We all have to do our bit) we can win a trophey this year.

Leigh should market LSV as the biggest Karaoke venue in the North West, a modern day Wigan Casino. Last night was a dark day for Leigh and it beggars belief that Leythers are consoling themselves about their karaoke efforts rather than anything to do with RL. I daresay Widnes fans must be lol that Leythers knowing the game was a none event spent 10-15 minutes singing abuse about Widnes. After the dark age chanting that broke ever notion of the RFL respect code.

Sorry to say this but like Hatty you just don't get it.

Due to the introduction of franchising crowds have declined not just at our club but for most clubs.

Wigan fans know they have a chance of attending a Grand Final or Challenge Cup Final to watch their team.

How many remaining fans of Championship clubs can say that ?

Look at footie. There are 5 teams fighting against relegation in the top league but their crowds ? Are they going up or down ?

Why do u think RU introduced promotion and relegation ?

Don't be smug just because you support a team who have resources.

Unless promotion and relegation is brought back soon clubs like Wigan and Leeds will have to play each other every week for a full season.

Wigan are an excellent team and some of their play was fantastic and a joy to watch,it must the players off that their fans don't respond to it,it annoys you as well, hence this post.
Never mind flower,things might improve and you lot might be able to enjoy this fantastic game that we follow,i am glad you liked are songs ,we made a special effort for you.

While your using a footy analogy Frank , Look at who's in the FA cup final , a team who less than 20 years ago weren't even in the league yet will be walking out at Wembley .

And even though they've reached a major final and are in a relegation battle they still can't get 15,000 through the gate , but you watch there'll be 30 odd thousand loyal Wiganers queuing up for a final ticket

Is this a Wigan thing?

We were in the Anvil, when in walked about 15 Leigh lads who on arrival burst into song, as I was getting another beer, one of the girls behind the bar said to the others, “Don’t serve that fat lad again he seems to be starting the songs”

I asked her “Is this your pub?”

“No I just work here, but am in charge why”

“Do you think your boss will be happy with you calling your customers, fat lads? Do you think he’ll be happy with you causing a fuss over nothing but customers having a sing song? How much has that ‘fat lad’ and his mate just put in your till?”

“It’s got nothing to do with you”

To which I said “It will if it all kicks off because of your attitude”

A few minutes later the said Leigh lad promptly went for a pint and got refused, knowing what was likely to happen next I spoke to him, whilst taking him out of view of the bar, he was aggravated “They wont serve me because I was singing! We’re only having a laugh”

“I know mate but this is Wigan, they don’t do fun”

“She said she’d sent my photo off the CCTV to her boyfriend who’s a steward at the stadium, to stop me getting in”

Laughing I said “You’ll be alright you’ll get in! It'll be years before they develop the photo”

Anyway one of his mates came over with a beer for him and I met up with him again on the way out of the stadium so all ended happy.

Well I was in the Anvil pre game.

Everyone seemed to enjoy the banter and there was no trouble.

The lady behind the bar is not very smart and for sure' now I have read that Glow I will never visit that pub again.

Fortunately there was no real issue, the lad wasn't too drunk, and his mate quickly got him a pint, I go in there every Christmas with the lads from work, and was talking to a couple of ex-workmates before and after this, as you said the banter was enjoyable.

Good craic in the Anvil, Wiganers were giving as good as they got in the banter stakes. 1,283 in the North Stand last night by the way.

If foul mouthed obscenity passes for passion in Leythers then evolution must have passed Leigh by. Singing / shouting etc. If it happens, it happens. I personally go to watch a game of rugby. Wigan fans sing / chant interestingly more so when their rugby team is poor such asd in the fight against relegation.

Away fans come to the DW and sing / chant mostly about their own team. Not since the 80's has an away following been so foul mouthed and never in certainly recent memory has an away support spent a large part of the game chanting negative chants about a club not even involved in the game. Namely Widnes.

Think I will go one better Frank - I will never visit 'Wigoon' again!

Sam Tomkins posted on twitter how fantastic he thought the Leigh Support was at the match on friday ,He was very impressed with the way the north stand chanted and sang their way through the match to support Leigh, in Comparison He must have thought the wigan fans were cardboard cut outs of spectators, that is until the east stand started their world famous wigan walk, and were waved off by the Leythers 18th man "Loyal" loyal my backside
