Leigh and Swinton both playing at the LSV. Swinton made up of mostly ex Leigh players. Why don't the clubs pool their resources and form a Manchester Rugby League club. We are both in Greater Manchester. Leigh and Swinton are never going to get into SDL, they are just slowly dying. They are never going to attract investment except from bucket collections and raffles.

A club with the name Manchester eg Manchester Miners or Manchester Marauders would get major investment and walk into SDL.

Rebrand and pool resources. You have to change to survive. I prepare to be shot down.

Rebrand to Manchester and we will be courted to join SDL. Everyone in the world knows of Manchester. Now Leigh I don't think so. SDL would love Manchester v Leeds, or Manchester v Wigan. We could tie up with United or City. Melbourne Storm v Manchester .. mouthwatering. It's a definite winner.

I'd go one further, and following on from your previous post - because the RFL is slowly strangling clubs at this level, apply to join the RFU.

Aparently the way they play RU in Aus/NZ it quite entertaining to watch.

When you say top level do you mean club or int RU?.
When iv'e heard people talking about it they all say ,take the lineouts out and that bit wer they all jump on each other and theres very little difference between the two sports.

TBH this was very close a couple of decades ago when White was in charge at Swinton and they were going to loose Station Road, IF both clubs agreed, IF the RFL gave a salary cap dispensation and IF the RFL promised a double payout for the next say three seasons and IF the RFL promised a SL place (criteria notwithstanding of course) the idea all personal and tradition aside may not be all that bad, mergers may well be a thing of the near future to survive in RL. That maybe hard to swallow but it could well become a fact of life.

I was told this by a certain Bristolian Leyther. It's bu11, I watched the All Blacks play Argentina for about 10 minutes, and it was dire, the ball handling is worse than watching Miners or East, never mind Leigh. NZ won by 7 penalties to 1 try or something, I lost interest it was that bad. $300 a seat for that rubbish.

Not much wrong with the handling abilities of the miners and east jonny.
