People are booing Sam because of his repeated attempts to con the officials into giving a penalty, like trapping someones arm and wriggling about, rather than getting on with a quick play the ball and earning a penalty. This dark side to his game sadly overshadows his obvious talent and it is what sticks in most peoples minds.

As for the match itself, I'm glad it was a close run affair as walloping the French again would have gained nothing. It's a pity though that we can't have episode two on this side of the Pennines for some revenge.

TBH we have two french teams playing one in SL and one in our league, that was supposed to be so that the french national team would hopefully get better, yet the RFL have cut the one game they had against their closest neighbours (us) now if thats rational thinking then?
how long before the Australians cut us adrift because they always beat us?

Short memories seem to be in prevalance. Last year at LSV Leigh speccies gave Sam a similar reception even though he scored 4 tries for our National Team England again Sky commentators passed similar remarks.

With respect I recall the Sky Commentators criticising Leythers for singing "if u hate Wigan Stand up"

They did not realise it was sang by Leythers in the North stand to Pie fans in the North and they duly sat down.

Sam Tomkins is highly rated by most Leythers.

Once a player puts on a International jersey then any club rivalry stops IMO.

Unfortunatly we've always had players booed on International games when played at home.
Its generally started by a home 'fan' of wherever the ground is (who has obviously no idea about what fixture he is actually watching) and is joined by others of a similar IQ.

Booing is pathetic regardless. Either go to the effort of thinking up a funny/insulting song and get it started or shut up.
The average RL fan booing looks and sounds like a farmyard animal.

Booing (or in any other way insulting) one of your own players in an international team is just embarrassing.
That said, I wouldn't expect any more from thick Leeds fans.

It will always continue for as long as England games are played at 'home' grounds. Played a big part in me missing my first England game (in the northern hemisphere) since Wales away a couple of years ago.

I'd never boo any player in an England shirt. I think the idiots that did boo are forgetting that it's only a decade or so since Paul Atcheson was the England Full Back.

He also comes to the LSV to watch some of our games Frank, good mates with Andy Thornley i believe.
