presently on one of the Wigan world forums they are discussing plans for a statue to be erected at Wembley stadium, and who it should be of. I of course have been on there and posted that the only possible contender for it is the one and only Alex Murphy O.B.E.

| I agree Peawap (see there's a first time for everything) 
In my book if you think of rugby league and Wembley you think of AJ. I know Shaun Edwards has won more but look at the great team he was playing in. No one sums up the Wembley spirit more than Alex Murphy. |

How about our very own Robbie Paul.
1996: Bradford lose the Challenge Cup final 40-32 to St Helens. Bradford's points come from tries by Jon Scales, Bernard Dwyer and a hat trick from captain Robbie Paul - the first ever scored in a Challenge Cup Final at Wembley. Paul Cook kicked 6 goals. Robbie Paul won the Lance Todd Trophy followed later in the season by the award for Super League Player of the Year. In September, assistant coach Matthew Elliot becomes head coach following Brian Smith's decision to return to Australia as coach of Parramatta Eels. Bradford Bulls finish the season as the best supported team in the competition with an average attendance in excess of 10,000.

Well he was playing for GB at 17yrs old.
As for coaching - maybe different style to modern day but who else could have brought a Challenge Cup & League Champions to Leigh, together with other cup successes. Also did really well at Wire. Been a personality in the game for years - probably one of the most well known.
Don't know much about Lance Todd apart from having a trophy namwed after him and Don Fox is only remembered for missing a goal kick How many did Timmy Street miss?
