We're planning Fun Day 2 for the Batley game on Sunday 17th June.

Anyone got any ideas for it, or anyone willing to help?

Or even a little feedback from Fun Day 1 that hasn't been discussed?

How about asking the Fire Brigade to bring down a fire engine. They're always doing stuff like that for fire safety etc - and the kids just love fire engines (and the mums just luurrrve firemen).

Sorry I also meant to post about the Police too, see if they'll bring one of their cars down.

They have been contacted, the police are waiting to see if they have a free car apparantly. Is that correct Jonny?

We will have some really cheap shirts from SL era. They'll make good training tops.

Cadets, scouts, cheerleaders, morris dancers, brass bands or what about any local schools who have a band? I know Westleigh High School have good one.

I think what you need is something for people to watch outside the ground, something that creates an atmosphere (not forgetting that these types of groups usually have lots of people in them, thus enlarging the crowd outside).

.....plus fire brigade, plus police.... So, anyone in a uniform then, eh?

I'm going to speak to a good friend of mine who organises huge events a couple of times a year to see if she can give me any tips or contacts I can pass on to the NSFG.

I've got contacts in a couple of brass bands. If you're interested let me know and I'll get some details for you.

A few players if able (I'd even get the youth players - any player who plays for Leigh even at youth level will be popular with the youngsters).

A fire engine or Police Car (something with a loud siren - it attracts children), even try for the NW Air Ambulance or Police Air support (you might get the community stalls but if the Helicopters go to a 'shout' I'm sure the pilots will buzz the ground on the way back).

Contact Batley and get them to bring the mascot with them - gives youngsters a idea of what the league is about and the mascots catch peoples attention and childrens imagination.

Something to keep Mum and Dad at the event (maybe a classic car or Motorbike on show for Dad, a flower stall for Mum or such like)

I'd get some stalls set out facing away from the entrance (set them facing morrisons), give a visual to a captive audience.

A local youth dance group, a brass band (attracts both sides of the age group and gives the event a sense of occasion).

Tuck shop (maybe a local shop would put a stall on - mainly things that children eat ,10p sweets etc, small bottles of pop).

Face painting.

Have a competiton for the Junior Centurions (best drawing of a Leigh player and Parky Pig) and give a prize to the winners at this event with a first team player and Parky involved with the prize giving- highlights the Junior centurions and what they are about.

Have some music on the concourse and something to direct people (need a PA with someone directing people around the event and annoucing whats going on all along building up to the match itself - team news 'you'll here it out here first' etc).

Bouncy castle worked so keep that, Birds of Prey worked but join them to the event so people know whats going on.

Some little rides, you,d have to charge of course but if cheap enough, would attract a few over.
Also what a about having a bric a brac sale you could raise of far bit of money, get stalls set up put a call out for people to donate stuff for you to sell, people love a good rumage
Barbi is a must in hot weather, we could make a few quid too on that, although wether the LSV would allow it is something that you would have to check out.
A singer or band goes well too and the cheerleaders dancing would be great.

Hot tub. Like Sheffield had a couple of years ago. Run a raffle with the winners getting the opportunity to watch the game from the hot tub. Get bents garden centre to sponsor it by loaning one of the hot tubs.

Bents, sponsor?

Why not? We've had a few "bent" sponsers in the past! (allegedly)

Bents don't even say they are close to Leigh on their adverts.
