We need to snap this lad up ASAP! Hope he puts pen to paper. Best full back we've had for a while

You mean best one since Donlan? icon_wink.gif

But I agree GMc would be another good addition to next years squad, even though I'd be happy to see Pownall play at FB he's doing a great job out on the wing.

Agreed.

Pownall fullback McNally to scrum half and Deano on the wing.

On the other hand if it isn't broken why fix it ?

Defo not better, and IMO not as good as yet, stu was a fantastic full back positionally and solid as a rock under the high ball two areas where gregg needs to improve but potentially a fantastic full back get him signed up icon_smile.gif

I think he's a better player, 9/10 returns a ball by running straight and hard.

I was chuffed when I read this thread title. Presumed Gregg had signed up. He's one of the signings I'll be the most pleased with, if we can secure him. I enjoy watching him play more than any full back we've had since Turley.

A cracking player but you can't compare him to Donlan yet, positionally, defencivley, bravery Donlan was a master at all these and don't forget we have had some other half decent No1's in the last 10 years Turles and Grix to name 2 who can both claim to be better than McNally as it is at the moment.

McNally is far better than Stu was the past few years. We never saw the best of Stu, that was after leaving us and before coming back.
I have a feeling he may be back in Cumbria with either Barrow or Haven next season, although he is good enough for SL imho.
Hope we retain him though.

I believe he's based in Huddersfield so I'm not sure he'll be joining a Cumbrian team any time soon.

Donlan put in some great performances over his last couple of years, but McNally offers so much more ball in hand IMHO.

Agreed he offers more with ball in hand but that does not make him a better fullback, he has been a bit dodgy under the high ball on more than one occasion this year and Like mort before him from opposing teams kicks he often has to move a long way to take ball as positional play lets him down but only young and not always been a full back great potential but I still feel pownall will be the better long term full back but that's just my opinion.

I can see what you're saying but having a ball-handling full back can be a big weapon and as much as I like Pownall, his skills aren't really suited towards that. Yes McNally has spilled a couple of high kicks, but he's also made a couple of terrific cover tackles when left as the last man and, as you say, he's got plenty of time to learn his trade.

Totally disagree. Great positional play with the exception of Leeds, and when Sinfield has time he is a great kicker.
Much better than Donlan at his career end spell. I also feel Pownall will be a great FB too - the riches we posess.

In my opinion, Stuart was always very reliable, but Gregg offers more flair.
