just been to miners st judes game,a very good 32 all draw,the outstanding player was miners scrumhalf scott obrien.imo he is better than anything we have in that position,he tackles,kicks ,createsand scores tries,his only fault is he is a local lad playing for a local team,and before anyone says I have a miners bias I am a founder member of leigh east.I think we should have a serious look at this kid because I think he is a very big talent.

Signed him once and he decided to go back miners, i would give him another chance though.

He tried his hand with blackpool last year and went back to miners and i'm led to believe in the past hes twice joined leigh and then gone back to miners. I'm sure if he feels he wants another go then teams will be interested but in keep going back this would say that he's not really interested in a pro/semi pro career at this stage- which is fine.

Walked out on Leigh without attending a training session and then turned his back on the pro game altogether after a stint with Blackpool. Is that really what we need?

That said the Riddy-Watto combination is developing pretty soundly at the moment.

John Woods Jnr was the same.

I know for a fact a few years back he was offered a pretty good SL contract with Salford and he turned it down.

Let's remember it takes a lot of commitment to be pro or semi pro and some people just don't fancy it.

He's a class player at Conference Level. Maybe he'll fancy another shot at this level in a few years, we'll have to see. Ridyard has made the step up pretty well I feel, not setting the world alight but doing his job at 6 which is getting us wins.

Very good where he is but like Kilshaw at East's prefers amateur scene over pro scene, like has been said signed two contract given back word both times move on.

was outstanding last night is a better talent than ridyard but not as ommited he doesnt want to play proffesional so fair enough would be a good 7 at this level

he IS playing at a far lower level though so its hard to compare him with the Leigh halfs isnt it?

I take your point but the difference in the standard they play dosnt alter the fact that Scott is quicker,kicks a ball brilliantly,tackles soundly and has an eye for the gap,I was told today that next year he is to marry and pack the game in altogether,what a waste.
