| I was very impressed with Hood and Hampshires pace when they linked up. Some great passing and never looked tired.

| I was more than impressed without getting carried away today.
The whole squad 'turned up' with positive performances throughout.
After taking about 20 minutes to acclimatise to the pace of SL, this was a very encouraging performance. Our guys looked very very fit, went the full 80 and still looked fresh. We have more pace across the squad than we have seen for years. We have real quality in the crucial hooking position even without Mickey Higham today.
We also have SL quality to add to the mix in Ridyard and Weston.
This performance should give our guys confidence that we can hack it in SL. For sure we have some tough early fixtures but we also have enough experience in the squad not to be pressing any panic buttons if results don't go in favour at the start.
The only negatives were injuries to McNally (ankle) and Higson (ribs). Let's hope they recover quickly and we get some luck in terms of our squad staying reasonably healthy.

| Pelisier, he is some player and he injects some pace in the ruck area thats for sure. His breaks could have done with some support at times
I thought however that young Ben Reynolds was outstanding from start to finish and whilst he is young, with areas to improve, his potential is enormous. A class act.
Ben Reynolds MOM for me.

| Firstly but [i'Not'[/i most importantly, I thought Wane showed a huge lack of respect today in the team he fielded 2nd half.
Ok, of course he has to test his fringe players & give them game time to assess them but, that 2nd stanza Wigan team were a shadow of that in the first half. Had they run a team closer to their 1st choice 17 then I wager the game would have been much tougher, possibly with a different result & possibly more beneficial to Leigh Centurions in terms of gauging where the team need to be at.
Despite all of the above I was delighted with the 80 minute application from the squad.
Stand outs for me were, INPO -
Cory, Crooks, Reynolds, Hood, Hampshire, Hock & Acton.
The whole team did look lots fitter (I did spot Cory blowing a bit but considering his efforts not surprising), however having so much control of the game 2nd half it isn't as testing as Vs a full strength SL team.
Good to get confidence in the squad prior to the opener against Cas, & [i50 - 10[/i Vs any Wigan side is not to be sniffed at.
Early signs are positive that we have the firepower to compete in SL 2017.

| What a job Jukes has deciding who to leave out! In previous years the weaker links in the squad stood out but this lot today looked like they could all do a job.......eight or nine strangers blending in is great..missed Fui though

Yes he does , we have the size and the experience and hopefully the pace , moulding them together into a competitive SL team is the job , just a pity Mr Wane decided to take the pi55 with his 2 nd half team as we could have used another 40 minutes of testing opposition
It's one thing putting kids ( small ones at that ) out against part time players after 40 minutes to tire them out , but against experienced full timers it's just not on

| Wane didn't do his players or his fans any favours by leaving his youngsters exposed to a team in full flow in the second half. Neither did he do Leigh's coaching staff any favours by taking off his halfbacks who were causing problems with their kicking game.
Reynolds was outstanding today and Pélissier is an excellent addition in the hooking department.

Yes, He did very well against the youngsters, but to be fair you can only play what is in front of you. I recall just one 'niggle' that he got involved in needlessly when I was urging him to walk away.
I am also urging him to succeed this season. I am fully supportive of Mr Acton in that respect as it is in all our interests for him to do so. Keep up the good work young man.

| Early Days but we showed some good signs, we looked very fit, all the new boys looked good especially L’Hooker, Rocky, Crookes, and Clare. Of the ‘old’ guard Reynolds, Hood and Paterson were the stand outs for me.
I think we struggled initially with pace of the game and our in play kicking wasn’t great as they were quick to close the kickers down but when they got up to speed and the kickers took a further step back, we took control, the second half was spoiled by Wanes team selection, but makes for a good day here at work.
The plus side is as we were walking up through Leigh, we bumped into my cousin and her husband to our surprise they were going to the game, I’ve never known them to go before, they’re planning to attend most home games this season. Also as we were stood in the queue to get in, another couple, friends of ours were in the queue, he usually attends about one game a year, he’s a keen cyclist and the change in fixture days means he’s planning to attend more games and was proud to show off his first new home shirt, don’t think she’d been since the last time we were in SL.
Also good to see more signs/sponsorship at LSV.
