Quote from the independant yesterday
www.independent.co.uk/sport/gene ... 14064.html
"Leigh hope to know by the end of this week whether they have been reprieved from relegation to the third tier of the game, Championship One. The club, who yesterday welcomed back Ian Millward as coach, finished last season in one of the relegation places in the Championship, but since then Gateshead, who survived, have said that they would rather drop down to regroup after their financial implosion. A meeting of the League's board of directors will discuss the situation on Friday.
"Hopefully with the Gateshead factor the club will get a second chance," said Millward, who coached St Helens with great success after his first stint at Leigh. "It would be good practice for the League to help clubs showing enterprise like this one." The future of another Championship One club, Oldham, appears secure after the withdrawal of a winding-up order."

| While that sounds like it might be good news, my attention in that story was drawn to Offiah getting his name in again. How many other player transfers that get reported have the players agent named. I saw another the other day, 'Offiah' trio commit to Quins. The guy is a pr1ck

| If we do get a reprieve there is another good chance to get the club on the TV again. Get a call out for loads of supporters to gather outside the ground a bit like a cup home coming, celebrating the fact we are staying up and get IM and the board to adress the crowd with the cameras there. Open the bar, set a few fireworks off.All good publicity for the club.

| Well I'll be down at the Cricket Club for the fireworks on Friday night, so won't be too far away. I'll gladly have a celebratory drink if there's good news tomorrow.

Hardly a cause for mass celebration - ATEOTD last season we failed and got what we deserved.
Personally should it happen I would be a bit more humble about it and sympathise with Gatesheads situation.
And get Millward or RP to speak to the media not Allan Rowley

| We didn't fail we finished 3rd bottom we went down on a technicality we were the 3rd worst team in the league not 2nd. Why would you not be happy about the decision to re instate if they do? typical Leythers never happy

| We did finish in a relegation spot, we always knew it was the bottom two English clubs.
One thing I would say is on this occasion from what I've seen all members of the club have been very dignified on the way they've handled both relegation and the Gateshead situation.

| It says rlhererl
From 2009, two teams will be relegated from The Co-operative Championship to The Co-operative Championship One.*
and then further down
*Please notefrom relegation and will remain in The Co-operative Championship should they finish in the bottom 2
Nowt about being demoted, no witch hunt, no lets pick on Leigh, simply the bottom two English clubs are relegated of which we were one.

Exactly. We knew the rules a year ago, can't believe people are still disputing them.

| I don't disagree with that but what i meen is that in playing terms we didn't get relegated, on results we finished 3rd bottom.
