Not seen anything on sponsorship money, but you have to admit, it's pretty good publicity for his business. I bet other club 'owners' weren't queuing up to sponsor it!

Seem to recall a Martin Sadler editorial of around three years ago though that bemoaned the fact that folk all too rarely mention their sponsors [ien passant[/i. The Centurions’ website and Twitter are quite good at naming sponsors in fairness. We’ll see, if indeed The Beeb broadcast the AB Sundecks 1895 Cup final before the Coral Challenge Cup final rather than sticking with talking heads, talking other anatomical parts peculiar to the male of the species, whether AB Sundecks gets a mention.

In Auntie’s coverage today, Bongser only spotted one mention of a sponsor and the “head” named an entirely erroneous one!!

Ads keep this forum going (though some more of the “Podium” members coming back would help). Thankfully the tailored advertising hereon has given up on Bongser wanting a young bride from various exotic climes, and has turned to trying to sell yours truly a super slim wallet. Bongser is still paying his ex-wife, he already has a super slim wallet!! As to the guarantee that “This is the last wallet you’ll ever need!” Think Semtex and a detonator in the clasp.

One of Bongser’s larger supplier’s once emailed him (and many others) with an “amazing offer” (or some such). Bongser perused it and decided that the supplier was attempting to offload dead, dated stock. He was about to dismiss it until he saw the wonderful line, “Offer open UNTIL STOCKS LAST” (Bongser’s capitals). Once he had stopped pe-ing his pants, he emailed his derision to a senior lass at the company whose immediate reply was “Oh, Lordy”. Her later call, between private mobiles, was bluer! Funnily enough her initials are AB and, though a Southron, her hubby comes up for Magic Weekend annually.

Lets say Bradford and ourselves get there, we should easily sell 15000 tickets between us - what larks if we all agreed not to watch the start of the main event but turned up midway through the second half filling the gaps

I see Fax and Bradford are respecting the competition by playing completely different 17s on Wednesday night, to their teams at the weekend. Very unlucky to have the whole team get injured on Sunday. Is that 34 doctors notes on their way to the RFL as proof. If only we had that luxury

Derek , must have his reasons for sponsoring this Cup comp, whatever they are.He is still very much involved with the running of the Club,I’ve heard a few positive things mentioned, not surprising really ,we are in a great position at the moment I feel if we beat Fax and Bradford in our next 2 home games we can easily get 3rd spot in the Championship.

This Comp is very tight at the moment, my concern is will we see Ryan B back in a Leigh shirt this season.?My prediction is Yes we need his cut and thrust in the team.
Sunday was a relatively easy win,Worky didn’t offer much to worry us , but Fax and Bradford will be different,hopefully with Riddy fit and get Ryan back we can challenge for that top 3 spot.

Leave it another season and Ottawa will be the next Toronto. Will that be a season for consolidating also? Just pumping money into a team isn't an answer as proven. Investment must come in the form of youth and structure to support the club. DB is very much against a reserve/A side as he stated.

IMO that was a wrong message to send out. In fact quite ignorant.

Derek is not against reserves it's just pointless expense if there's no one to play,the club had a very good reserves but half the time they were winning by 50 or the games were being called off and lads were getting fed up of training with no proper game at the end of the week so half the lads were leaving at the end of the season even before db made the decision to stop the reserves
