The Watcher is very disappointed in Leigh's performance so far, poor discipline again, poor game management again & more worryingly the team look lacking in energy & drive. Salford on the other hand look a completely different team to the one The Watcher has watched on telly for most of the SL season.

without wanting to sound condescending, some Leigh fans a few weeks ago were displaying some incredible confidence, or possibly arrogance, regarding their team.
it's one thing bullying and putting the cleaners through amateur teams week in week out it's another matter when it comes to full time professional outfits.

yes you had 2 very good results in the cup and most neutrals probably cheered you in the 3 cup games against SL teams, but then some of your fans got the old arrogant head on and now look very silly,i imagine that they and their boasts will be going into hiding now?
most people apart from Leigh and Bradford fans predicted that the poorer SL sides would have too much for their teams come the 8's but were told that Leigh and Bradford would do to SL teams what they had been doing to amateur teams.
hopefully they can both stir the competition up a bit in the next few weeks?

We didn't match Salford physically. Surprising?

Salford received 1.8m TVs funding v Leigh's £0.5m. Salford posted a £5m loss. We probably haven't turned over £5m.

But this one is the killer - we've been playing championship level opposition all season. How can we condition our players mentally or physically for the step up?

Big chance missed last week. Put that game to bed, result this week is less important, as you wouldn't expect to win away to a SL club.

That said, nature of some of the tries was very disappointing. 5 or 6 people walking in untouched. Defence wide has gone to pot. Pownall should be in, and Spencer and / or Acton should come in to give more energy to the pack. How long is Hopkins out for?

I'm wondering which is the harder defeat to "take" - to lose from a winning position at home or to be steamrollered away?

As for this game, I felt McNally got his try in the 1st half (Higson's and Ryan's far more doubtful) but that is water under the bridge now.

Again many rugby sins were committed but coming back from 22-0 down was always going to be a big ask. We had our purple patch, our attacking play was good but again the defence and the game management are things that need building up.

Next week will be very, very interesting.

I've not heard what Hoppy is out with, he limped off so if its ligaments who knows.
