Well it has to be said its been one hell of a year so far and great to see we got some well deserved recognition for it this week not only for on the field achievements but for our hard work off the field with a club of the year award.

What particularly pleased me was the recognition of the community work which is something I was always passionate about before and whilst being involved during my time and indeed I am still committed to assisting whenever possible moving forward.

With one final but very important hurdle to get over now on Sunday the clock is now ticking. Been keeping an eye on the updates re coaches and it looks like one hell of a Red & White convoy will be crossing the Pennines and I think you guys now know why I was keen to pay for those coaches as it was my leaving present to the supporters of the magnificent club.

Cant wait to see you all over there enjoy the day soak it up and most importantly of all Leythers LETS MAKE SOME NOISE!!!!!!!!!!

Best Wishes to One and All,

Andy Mazey.

First game was in 1967, and have been hooked since day 1. Now live in Vancouver, Canada but follow our team any way I can. “Up The Comics !”:17580.jpg

Hey KL
I have been in touch with Fred Parky and he has said that he and Dave will be at the game and filming as usual, but that Leigh Life will not be able to broadcast. Dave will however do the mixlr broadcast if they have access to wifi (which is not known until they get there I think). If the mixlr is not available I'm sure the Mark J Taylor twitter updates will be on the go. I am coaching at my daughters football game at exactly the same time as the game, otherwise I would put score updates on here for you. (I am hoping mixlr is working as I may have an earbud in from my phone though icon_wink.gif )
I also echo your best wishes to the lads, and the big thanks to Andy, the current BOM, and everyone who has had a hand in a season that has surpassed ever optimistic hopes for our great club.
Come on you Leyth eusa_clap.gif

What a brilliant season on and off the field ..Everyone involved with the Centurions can hold their head up high with what's been achieved during such a short time, what's really pleased me away from the fantastic achievment of both first and second teams is the amount of young people coming to watch the Centurions unbelievable ...Brilliant...Can't wait for the Grand Final Sunday gonna be a cracker .....

If we are victorious on Sunday and you decide to have a few drinks celebrating a little later in the day then it will be reassuring for you (and maple leyther) to be aware that the worlds greatest hang over cure is now listed and available in Sobey's, Canada's largest grocery chain.

IRN-BRU - Currently on offer at 2 for $4. Fill your boots ! icon_wink.gif

It's also Important we remember those who started the journey and helped put the ship back on course.

John Roddy stepped into the club and joined the previous board when not many were putting their hands up to put a shift in. John joined up with the new regime and put a lot of time in with the LSV and made a great figurehead early in our tenure and was one of the reasons the RFL have a new found respect for the club due to his professional conduct.

Rob Parker although a paid employee often went above and beyond the call of duty and although new to the business side won the respect of many new and existing sponsers.

People like Alan Edge and Michelle Simpkin just to name two played very important roles in our early communications and media strategy before, during and for the first critical months of the new boards tenure and this shouldn't be forgotten and won't be by me. Alan was responsible for the fantastic programme and template we now have and did it at a time when nobody else was willing to step up to the plate. Michelle brought Darren Lilly the clubs now social media man into the very first comms meetings I held and what an assist he's become.

Don Boyle and others who lay the platform and do the hard work behind the running of reserve team rugby which is so crucial in the blooding of young players and the future sucess of the club.

David Rothwell, his wife and Kath Stott work tirelessly on match day operations at no cost to the club.

Michael Ward who volenteers his time on matchday music and audio FOC.

Cliver Render and Tom Simms Legends bar and match compares again FOC.

It's easy once sucess has arrived to pat the people on the back who come to the fore and collect the prizes, trophies and glory but it's important to remember all the supporting cast and people who collectively make it all happen.

Far to many great volenteers to name them all but they who they all are and they know who they have my respect, board members come and go but these people along with the clubs major stakeholder the fans are the real key to the clubs sucess.

I don't think this year could have gone any better and all expectations have so far been exceeded and Lady Luck has been with us, who could have predicted Sheffield would underperform to such a degree, Fevs one man dictatorship ultimately bringing them down to earth with a bang and Halifax also failing to ever really get going?

Like In Formula One if you give your driver the best posible vehicle and resources 9/10 they win the race and we're all the others fell down we succeeded as a club and that is so pleasing in so many ways.

The big tests lie ahead as our car won't nesesarily be faster than all the others next year so our driver will be tested but I'm sure we will once again rise to the challenge and I predict progress to be maintained.

See you all Sunday!

Andy

And as someone stated on the Facebook page, whilst giving out individual plaudits do not forget the huge contribution of Gillian Jolley especially this week who is the 'face' of the club's presence in the town centre.

I have had a number of dealings with Gillian and let me just say that nothing at all is to much trouble for Gillian who is an excellent ambassador for the club.

100% mate.

While a paid employee Gill goes far and above the call of duty and as well as being dedicated and hard working is a lovely person with a big heart.

Cheers Andy!

I was an outsider looking in when I first came aboard, now I consider myself part of the Leyth Family! I've loved and continue to love every minute of it.
