| Dewsbury have entered ito an arrangement with Bulls - rlhttps://www.sportinglife.com/rugby-league/news/article/480/8137243/bulls-twin-with-dewsburyrl
[i"Dewsbury will have access to players who are not included in Bradford's weekly 19-man squad or are too old for the new Under-19 academy structure, while the Bulls will have first option on the Ram's brightest prospects."[/i
In my opinion this is the death knell for the lower league club. It seems to be a permanent acceptance of subservience. Why would anyone choose to pay to watch the SL club's second team when the first team is playing just down the road?
I hope we do not enter into a similar agreement, no matter how it was attempted to spin it.
Should we do so the club will lose a life long supporter, season ticket holder and one who has put his hand in his pocket to keep this great club alive too many times than he cares to remember....
If the BoD read this forum please get an announcement out ASAP that we are an independent club and intend to stay that way.
Michael

| They have already stated at the fans forums that they will not become one of these clubs.

| I don't know -
As Leigh already have their own ground, and meet SL licence requirements (well, better than many clubs East of the pennines anyway!), you could always use Wigan as your feeder club when their Aussies return home and take 'Tomkins minor' with them ........ they already wear copies of your shirts, don't they?
You could be called Leigh Centurions and Wigan Plebs (See what I did there? Topical eh?)
(wonder how long before they turn up to call me a tit again?)

Thanks - that has put my mind at rest!
I am still concerned about where the game of Rugby League seems to be heading but that is a debate for another day...

| After seeing the crowds for the CC and Playoff semi finals I am seriously worried for proffesional RL full stop. I know the CC final was a good crowd but crowds throughout the game are dropping. Maybe peoples disposable income has dropped so much that it is cheaper to stay in the pub and watch it. But is it? I'm not even sure if P&R would make a difference. I fear that the whole social occasion of watching an RL game live at a stadium is on the wane.

Football crowds seem to be relatively unaffected by the recession, and tickets are much more expensive

| I totally agree with the last post.
This twinning idea is even dafter (if it can be) than licenscing and continues the ridiculous policies the RFL adopted due to the ideas of Richard Lewis (whose record of running sporting organisations is not impressive).
Yeh you are a kid in Dewsbury or Hunslet and you watch Bradford or Leeds reserves rather than their first teams ?
And what about adults would they ?

| You cannot compare football crowds to RL crowds, as RL is a regional sport. Like any ad campaign if you ram it down the publics throat often enough it will be the subject that they want and follow. It's like politics, supermarkets, clothes, you name it. Crowds will follow where the crowds go. Bahhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Thats my sheep impression.

According to the Supporters trust meeting last night at Halifax with the BOD and the coach, You are going to linked up with Wigan.
:Great evening the Board, Karl and Martin were all very open and honest the main message being that Halifax RLFC are to remain a stand alone club and will not be a feeder club to any SL club but this comes at a price, it costs money to run an U19 and U23 team so they need our help to raise the cash!
My message to the many of you on here that complain, where were you last night???
It was a Trust meeting but we did open it to all yet only about 20 turned out, if you want to find out what is going on then this is the best place to get to know, so get yourself to future meetings when we will have players and coaching staff as guest speakers over the year.
Oh and by the way Fev and Sheffield are also staying as stand alone clubs but Leigh will be a feeder club to Wigan! That means other clubs can have up to 5 SL players and also coaching staff from their 'parent' club! SL clubs will not be running U23s teams, that is a terrible move based on cost cutting, there will be nowhere for a 20 year old plus player who does not make the first team to play in future, how bad is that?

OK, so if your not been a "outright" feeder club then what capacity is it then, Dont just come out with we get a few dual Reg's and thats it, Becuase deep down i think you know that that wouldn't just be it.
Personally it makes no difference to me whether leigh do it or not just as long as Halifax dont do it, which is something that has been confirmed as not doing, We are increasing to the under 19s as well this year. Its a total backwards step to any club with ambitions of growing and is not happy staying put.

| i will be gone as well if we end up being a `feeder club`.i also think if most of our clubs in the championship go down this road i dont ever see promotion and relegation ever coming back, what point would there be.the main club would say "u cant play player a,b,c,d etc against us and so on.i never thought a sport could ever be run so badly but ours gettin worse every year.
