Players not being paid? oh dear now i really fear for our future!

Are you sure this months pay is due? I'm informed by a club employee payday is this coming friday

Pub rumour or fact?

I said seem they are not being paid, i don't spread rumours people need to know how serious a situation we are in i want a club to support next season! What are the club telling us???? Nowt. so we have to hear things like this from people like me.

Speaking to one of the Leyth player's dad today, all he said about the current position, is about 'the lads' not knowing who is is going to be in charge next season, and obviously no new contract offer's etc.
I'm sure he would have mentioned this so called 'not being paid'.

Well am not really interested if anyone believes me i hope it isn't true my point is that the fans the people the club need the most as usual are told nowt.

i won't be saying who has told me but they will be a lot more affected more than you or i or a players dad!

Things got considerably worse last Thursday , anybody who didn't realise that just wasn't paying attention

Up to that point the focus was about putting together a workable budget for next season , the loss of expected income even from a losing final has changed all that to getting us to next season as still a club

The thread on here about Trevors lack of ' grace ' post match tells a story to anybody with an ounce of common sense , my frustration at our own fans is part of the same issue , we need the fans to show some solidarity and strength in the face of adversity

As I suggested last week and Trevor has publicised , a gesture by the fans is needed , I will be donating what would have been the cost of my Championship GF ticket to LISA , I would ask others to consider the same

Maybe there aint a lot to tell? Trevor and co are working hard to secure the future of Leigh RLFC, we should know who the coach is soon, there isn't a white knight on the horizon, structures are being put into place to try and be self financing, there is a fans forum next week where some things should be released by then hopefully, but if there ain't nothing to tell then...
But it's only payday on Friday so lets wait until then before this rumour gets out of hand.
Re the fans forum they are also running a test on the proposed radio 'station'/link for next seasons games, you have to be a LeighLife member (as it's their bandwidth and a combination - mostly - theirs and mine of equipment etc..) so get registered today and express your interest and they will tell you how it will be 'broadcast to your computer.

Fred am not knocking the club i very rarlely do its the frustration.
Whats happened to martin Ainscough? Is he coming in or not? If not say so all the rumours about a White Knight are quashed for good and people (me for one) will get properly worried like during the time of the Blackpool mafia!

there's only so much fans can do mate - maybe the club should look at a club like Donny and see how they tried the 'self-financing' as Fred Parky suggests - they are in the black this year so maybe lessons can be learned ?

You mean after they went into administration ? , our current problems are historical , Donny were starting with a clean slate , however ending up where they are is not beyond possibility for us

Its a difficult one for the club.
As Fred pointed out a few weeks ago when I raised the lack of news that there has been a fans forum and some info came out then.
I think the problem we have is in the past when we have been in real mess the club banged the drum and got supporters talking about the realisation we may have had no club to follow and started to rally support or form a fighting fund involving non Leigh RL supporters.

The difference this time was upto Basil mentioning it on a radio interview nothing was being said , we have then gone on a good run playing wise and nothing has been really said to alert fans that the club maybe gone so people think everything is alright.

In effect unless the club come out (on the website or written press) and say that if we don't get x amount of pounds or new investment / ownership by such and such a date the club will be in danger of folding I think the fans, people of the town & reluctant investors will probably think we are going to be ok.

Going into Administration isn't so bad IF you do a Steve O'Connor and put a BIG Wedge into the RFL's bank account but that aint likely to happen is it. In 25 years of watching Leigh its only abut the 15th time i've been through it ah well onwards and upwards talk about take the rough with the rough!

With the situation we are currently in , ie needing an extra 200K plus per season to put out a max salary cap spend team , administration doesn't help a great deal , yes any potential investor loses any historical debt and commitments , but they still need to tip up just to hopefully avoid a relegation battle year on year

Ultimatley we need enough supporters to become self sustaining , we know how many that is , it's what Widnes get , when we do get that , I have no doubt that we will suddenly become much more attractive to any potential new owners , realistically would Steve O Connor have been as interested in Widnes if their fan base had been similar to ours ?

As 'Starbug' says, things got a lot worse last Thursday. I know you can't budget for appearing in/winning a G/F, but up to a couple of weeks ago, we looked a good bet to get there. Then, Featherstone and Sheffield put paid to our hopes. That, unfortunately is sport, and why we all love RL - the 'favourite' doesn't always come out on top.

We can assume that the club isn't saying anything, because there is nothing definite to say, but Trevor has never hidden the fact from us, that the remainder of this season has always been our prime worry - and a big one. If there is anything to say, he WILL tell us - that's the way he is working.

Meanwhile, we have to believe that he/the two remaining active Board members are exploring all avenues to sort things out.
