Heard today that nanyn, blythe, taylor, mcConnell, alstead and armistead are all being released for next season

Blythe isn't one of ours to release. I'll be gutted if JT doesn't get a new contract

Plus Leuluai (to Widnes) and Mort, if we are to believe other posts. By the way, Blythe is a Warrington player so we can't 'release' him.

Also hartley gone and not sure bout stanton

Stanton has been released, Hartley 'retired' about two months ago and Durbin quit.

releasing Taylor will be a HUGE mistake

Taylor is a good player, his ball handling can put us in some awkward positions though.

Taylor offers us nothing except a big defensive effort. We need better to progress. A good coach will take the emotion out of decisions like this (ie he is a local lad who has been brought through the ranks and releasing him will upset some of the blinkered fans on the terraces), he will look at the facts and the abilities and development of each player and make the call to release the ones who can't take the squad forward.

I don't think people realise just how much work Taylor does. Every team needs a workhorse in defence like Taylor. We'd miss him and to find a suitable replacement in the same mould would be very difficult.

As with last years released players it will be interesting were they end up, usually an indication of how good they are.

JT's only option was to show he could move up to prop. We have lacked skill in the back row since Baldwin left, we need strike players at centre and back row, Goulden is our grafter.

It would be a big mistake to release Jimmy IMO. He may not be the most effective runner of the ball but he does more than his fair share in defence, it'd be good to see him in the back row with a more attacking second rower.

There are plenty of players who should be released. JT isn't one of them. He might not be the best going forward, but he does the defensive work of 2 men. He would be a huge loss if he went.
