last week after I had left my car in Lord street to be valeted, I thought I would pop into the Globe for a livener but when I opened the door it resembled a building site with the floor dug up and everywhere full of dust, I have since learned that it has been bought by the guy who owns the clothes shop next door and part of the agreement is that it cant re-open again as a pub, and so another one bites the dust how long before they are all gone.

| oh I didn't know that some one told me it was going to be a KFC I thought it was a bit bizzare having 2 KFC's then again in Leigh there's 2 Argos stores, 2 JJB's/DW's & 2 Mac D's when are we going to get a burger king again  |

thats not always been the case- in the eighties the globe was by far the most popular pub in leigh.
it was owned by the late jimmy wilcox i think and it was packed solid all weekend |
