you wont vote for her because of something that happened before she was born?
things change.... look at the labour party now, hardly the "common mans" party anymore are they?

They are still the only party worth voting for.

An underwear entrepreneur is to take on Health Minister Andy Burnham for the Leigh seat.
Shazia Awan, a 28-year-old Cardiff-based businesswoman, is the Conservatives' choice to fight the seat in the General Election.

She will be attempting to overhaul a huge 16,300 majority.
Ms Awan, from Caerphilly, South Wales, is seen as a rising star in the party.

She made history as the first Asian woman to speak at the Conservative Welsh Party conference last year.

The former public relations consultant runs Peachy Pink, the range of slimming and cellulite combating underwear, which launched successfully last year with ambitious growth and expansion plans to be in 45 countries in the next 12 months with a turnover of £5m next year.

Her products are already sold throughout Debenhams stores in the country, while rapidly expanding into international markets.

Ms Awan says Leigh people deserve an MP who will work with them and listen to their concerns.

She says she now looks forward to meeting as many local people as possible over the coming months.

She said: "It is a great honour to be selected as the prospective Conservative MP for Leigh. Local residents across Leigh have been let down badly and taken for granted by Labour for far too long.

Only the Conservatives can provide a fresh start, and the change that local people in Leigh, Lowton, Golborne, Astley and Tyldesley need and deserve."

"Labour have failed us time and time again, on the economy, crime, the NHS, Europe and immigration. People are fed up and ready for change."

Speaking after the selection meeting, Astley Mosley Common Councillor Sean Ell, who chaired the hustings, said, "Shazia will make an excellent MP."

Do the maths peawapp, if she is 25 then hoow could she be born before 1984 !!!

So I would suggest the odds would be very short!!!

Not decided who i'll be voting for this time but it certainly won't be Labour although the Torys won't be getting my vote.

Nazi party...... its the Labour and Conservative party who have killed 250,000 muslims in the iraq, iran, afganistan war.......

Its the BNP who want to withdraw from that war, which isn't for weapons of mass destruction..... but an illigal for oil for giant american oil companies.......

Who are the real Nazi's?????

I'll definatley not be voting for the pro war parties like Labour and Conservatives for sure!!!!!

if she is a rising star its a bit of a waste putting her up against Rt Hon A Burnham in a constituency like Leigh. "She will make a good MP"- she may well do but not in Léigh. If she gets in there will be virtually no Labour MP's in Parliament.

Interesting to see what the BNP will make of this selection..

I wouldn't be voting for Ms Awan, but her business success is admirable, and exactly why the BNP should never be allowed near sharp objects unless accompanied by a responsible adult, never mind 'political office'.

Under their racially-derived politics of ancestral origin and other such pernicious nonsense, they'd rather deny the talents and contributions made by people of all communities to our society and economy. She'd not even be alllowed to be a party member until the courts ruled the BNP's own consitution to be illegal. Stupid, stupid party, stupid nasty politics.

Stop me if I'm wrong, but isn't an anglo-Asian family food business one of Leigh's largest employers?

Speaking of the BNP there was a newsletter pushed though my door the other week with an acompanying letter. The letter started with "Dear fellow Leythers........" tug at the old heart strings moment

Later on in the letter it outlines what they would do if they won the Leigh seat
the first thing on the agenda would be to reinstate Leigh council. Now many people in Leigh will off read that and thought thats my vote sorted
