| I've seen a couple of different outlets now are saying we have 1 more player to come in possibly from the NRL. Has anyone heard anything? I think we only really need to improve the half backs currently because if Mellor/Reynolds got injured for the MPG I would be worried.

| Jason, this story has been doing the rounds for quite a while. It seems to have originated from Mick Gledhill 'the name caller' on one of the 'Show Me the Money' podcasts.
Since then the rumour has been repeated by the usual RL online publications, in particular, Serious About Rugby League (SARL) who repeat it every few weeks when there is nothing else for them them to 'report' upon. Each time SARL use the story they use a misleading headline which gives the indication that it is new story or breaking news. Its nothing of the sort, its just the same old story doing the rounds.
I use the word 'report' advisedly since for SARL this basically means regurgitating other publications' stories and trying to pass them off as their own by just changing a few words. SARL is not worthy of the name journalism. Its more a case of 'cut and paste'.
Anyhow, the 'big NRL signing story' has been around for a number of weeks with nothing further being added. The speculation is from fans that the signing will be a half back. I've seen nothing more definite than this. If, however, anyone else has seen more then please feel free to put your two penneth in. However, i for one would not bet against there being a big signing announced and playing for us before the end of this season.

SARL isn't worthy of any comment, its nothing more than a click bait site.

They are currently claiming an “exclusive” from a high level source at Fev, that Macca going is baseless.
The most news worthy part of the article is the “exclusive” claim
I do think we may see another signing though. Lam and DB (if I remember rightly) have said we are still searching for the right player(s) if they are available.
I would love a quality halfback, but would view it as a safety net and not an essential. For me Mellor and Reynolds are the best pairing in the Champ, I just worry about injury at the wrong time. Ben Reynolds is playing his best ever rugby at Leigh right now.

| Did anyone see Lam jnr playing Halfback for PNG at the weekend? He was outstanding. Two tries, two assists,a good all round performance.Currently not getting a game in OZ,he would be the one for me.

| Newshy, funny you should say that. These have been my thoughts as well. I just wonder whether there is more mileage in this one. He looks useful and, lets face it, is used to playing at a significantly higher standard in the NRL, when picked.
On potential signings for next season, I see that Jacob Miller at Wakey is out of contract at the end of this season and has indicated, reportedly, that he may well not be re-signing for Wakey although planning to stay in the UK where his family are happily settled.
I rate Miller and he was certainly rated highly enough by the Pies last year for them to have a dabble at signing him. I just wonder whether Chester might just have his feelers out. It would not surprise me.

Lam was great in the PNG game and is a quality halfback for sure. I’d be surprised if the Roosters let him go long term as he is a near future star, but I have wondered if we could get him here for the rest of the season on some kind of short term deal. He would be dynamite in the Champ and behind our pack.
Miller is a quality player also but I have not seen enough of him this season to say for sure but trust your judgement. (we see way more NRL here in Canada than SL unfortunately, and the SL I have seen has not shown Wakey if I remember rightly).

I for one would love Leigh to sign Lachlan Lam. Lam Snr (Adrian) did rubbish this earlier in the season as a non starter. Maybe Lachlan has his heart set on a 1st choice spot in NRL or doesn't fancy the big city lights & tropical weather of Leigh, who knows ? Only his Dad would have any positive influence on whether Lachlan might try his luck over here.

| As mentioned on the player retention thread, I have just finished the last of three interviews of Derek by the Dock House Rugby Show guys. In the third he mentions that he/we are still open to signing another player, should the right one be available and willing. He does not mention names, position etc, and is very confident and complimentary of the squad Chester and Lam have put together. He is clear though, that we are still actively looking for the right player.
