Featherstone fans kicking off again, this time at North Wales Crusaders.

Local paper reported that around 500 away fans came to the game of which 50 of them became abusive to home fans most of them plastered. Crusaders have put in a complaint in as they have never came across this lot before.

Been on the Featherstone forum and some of them are saying its the Crusaders fault for selling them the ale.

----Following Leigh Centurions in the Championship until the day I die. I don't beLEIGHve.----:

Probably a load of crap, bar one trip to POR we've never had any real trouble, fans of both teams both at fault that day it kicked off with us.

A few lads have probably had too many drinks on the long drive down there , which isn't illegal by the way, sounds like a decent away following and a home team loss, cue the standard kicking off posts after the game.

Last thing we need is people boycotting some grounds like previous years because of the threat of trouble through Chinese whispers.

Weren't they in the Championship, under their original name of Celtic Crusaders?

Different team, board and fans so no.

Went to the bowl final with them and they have a good base of fans (pretty loud) they all stayed behind to watch the Leigh v Sheffield game and shouted for both teams, they are very family orientated and love the game.

To reiterate Red City - North Wales Crusaders is an entirely different club to the old Celtic Crusaders or Crusaders RL so no they have never played in the Championship before.

Similar to the current Leigh BOM - fans who wouldn't let the club die when things went belly up last season - at the demise of the Crusaders franchise, the old club's fans got together to create a new community club, run by the fans for the fans. At the time it was felt a good idea to retain Crusaders in the name to make people in North Wales aware that there would still be semi-pro rugby league in the area. However, in hindsight, after a lot of hard work on and off the field and the club gaining promotion after only 2 seasons in existence maybe a different name would have been better to avoid this current confusion for some people.

Thanks you two, for clarifying my confusion. You can see where it comes from though, eh - both teams being Welsh icon_wink.gif

The importance of behaving oneself after a few beers is the message here, the temptation to accept or justify the unacceptable will always come from those with no respect for their fellow fans
When one of a group is incapable of taking his ale and is overstepping the mark then it is the responsibility of his friends to pull him in to avoid spoiling it for the majority not stick up for him
It seems 10% of the Fev support let the 90% down but that will always be the case unless those within that 10% deal with it when it starts

Absolutely right NL. Leyth/Fev/whoever - if they can't handle their ale or can't stay out of trouble when they have a drink they should stay off it. And I agree its up to the mates to stop them getting in that state in the first place rather than being there to help them out in the fracas if it all kicks off. I can't subscribe to Jimmy's way of thinking that it comes down to civil liberties of the troublemakers and their legal right to have a drink, or that if you call it a one-off its somehow less unacceptable.

Been to Post office Road on three occasions in the last five years and witnessed lots of abuse like the above. We haven't been back for two years and won't be going again.

We have all been in the same stand the last two times we have been, and there hasn't been any trouble though.

Exactly right - this is why I volunteer as Frankb's unpaid carer / minder - hate to imagine what damage he would do if I didn't icon_wink.gif icon_lol.gif

It was nothing must of been 2/300 there for 11am we had a good drink in the town centre went to the turf near the ground had a good old sing song that continued in the ground. Really cant understand the fuss not a hint of trouble. maybe they took offence to some singing "sheep ghaggers" and "you fat Bsd" at Jono and the blow up sheep flying around. it really was nothing
