| I moved to Leigh earlier this year and therefore cant claim to be a true Leyther and im also fairly new to rugby league therefore please ignore me if im talking nonsense here howver, i became a fan of the Leigh centurions and attended several matches last season. Im going to try to support the club more actively this season (Season ticket, LISA, the odd away game etc) and despite the loss of Arthur, Millward and several key players we seem to be building a good squad this year. Im sure we'd all like to see Leigh in the super league and if im not mistaken we took a big step towards that last year with the NRC win, the thing that concerns me is the attendances- seeing that stadium 1/4 full on matchday makes me feel depressed especially when the team are playing as well as they did last year. I know the warriors are only down the road but im sure there's plenty of Leigh folk out there that would be quite happy to pay £11 to watch a quality rugby league team. The point im trying to make is that i live literally round the corner from the LSV and for the first couple of months i only knew there were matches on when i saw an unusual amount of hairy blokes walking past my front window wearing Leigh shirts. Why dont Leigh advertise more? I pass several advertisements for circus's in Wigan everyday and if i need to 'earn extra cash at home' i wouldnt need to look much further than the local lampost - but nothing for the centurions, why? You cant read whats advertised on the stadiums TV screen from Atherleigh way so that doesnt work well (Morrisons shoppers might now though). Why dont they put up the odd poster on the huge billboards on Atherleigh way opposite Sainsbury's - Morrisons put up 3 this last week! Do they advertise anywhere?

| Far to sensible a post. Leigh traditionally have always strugled on the advertising/commercial side, those who disagree with everything say we can' t afford to but who knows.

| Good post. As a member of the PSG Communications group, I couldn't agree more with your sentiments. I still remember clearly what the Widnes Commercial Manager said, last time they got into SL - the Vikings thought then that fans would 'just turn up' as they were back in SL, but that didn't prove to be the case. Fans needed to be INFORMED, when games were to be played.
This season there WILL be more advertising of our games, through a variety of different channels.

| couldnt agree more with this post, all it would take is for a few posters to be printed off and perhaps you could get a few young leythers to distribute them throughout the town, even putting one in each school around the area, would attract a few extra fans, its definately something that needs to be worked on next season, as we have a very good team being built on paper and i personally cant wait to see what this season has in store for us. Bring on the first game!!!

| You went to a few games this year, you are a true leyther.
Your point is valid, our advertising in the town is poor.
My idea that Waterfields and Pataks make a 'leyther pastie' on matchdays I think is a good one, but emails get ignored. Two massive Leyth companies making a product with profits going only to the club, free sponsorship for Pataks & Greenhalghs.
Where would you buy your indian produce and pasties from?

You serious about that pastie stuff? My ribs have almost cracked with laughter on that suggestion mate.

| Aye, they do very little advertising do the Centurions, compared to other RL clubs don't know how we compare.
When I was a kid in the early 70's, I lived near the Cart & Horses pub in Astley. There was a fence nearby, and there was always a poster advertisng Leigh's next home game. I used to 'run down' every week, like an excited 'fool' to see when the next game was,and who we were playing........them wuz the days !!!

| Great post mike 1984,on being a leyther you have already past one very important test watching the mighty Centurions(come rain or shine win or lose),next you must eat a pon of lobby once a week with either red cabbage or beetroot "WARNING" never mix the condiments it leads to anarchy.Pie crust must never touch your lips "YOU WILL "turn to the dark side (wigan). You must complain about that place (wigan) at every opportunity. There follow these simple steps and one day you may end up turning the xmas lights on(good eh!) WELCOME!

| And Salford.
I have chatted to a couple of their fans who don't drive and they are concerned about transport links to Barton particularly if their team play Friday nights.
Maybe we could replace them in Non Relegation League and they could watch us.
Well' they might read this thread.

| To be fair Eccles/Trafford Centre are easy to get to via bus. Te stadium seems further away than it is due to the amount of things between Eccles centre and the stadium. On google maps it's around 2 miles from Patricroft Station to the stadium, tops.

A very good point mike , you are quite correct , to move forward the club needs to work much harder at raising its profile within the town , as Alan posted earlier , it is something the club has put as a priority in the future , the issue as has been pointed out is finance , so I think using bill boards might prove out of our reach for the moment , so we will have to be a bit more ' inventive ' , but it HAS to happen
