| That was a pretty solid effort by all the team today.
We'll start with the obvious, Child had a good game, let the game flow, called it fair I thought. It was odd see 3 binned for Haven in the space of about 5 minutes, especially confusing as one was right on half time after we'd scored, I take it the first was for lying-on after continual penalties and warnings previously and the other 2 were for decent.
Still learning the names of the team and what they look like and its a bit odd trying to pick out a talisman now Hood isn't here so trying to pick out a new one on the strength of one game is tough.
As for the team; I can see Nene getting his name chanted to the Seven Nation Army riff. There were some bright passages of play and the team look solid in attack and defence, except for the try which was very lax.
Mellor and Reynolds looked hungry going forward and solid in the tackle too. Nice off loads from a fairly mobile pack and good link up play from Aekins. Sam Stone stood out for me too.

| Asiata was the best player on the pitch by a mile, biggest leigh team I’ve seen in a long time as well, good hit out, played well on the back of a good basic rugby, game looked easy early thought we tried to force it early 2nd half, but all in all very good start

| Had to miss the game for personal reasons more important than Rugby League. Good to hear that the performance was good even with a shallow squad.
Looking forward to Bradford at home now.

It was laxer than lax - Haven only had 10 (maybe 11) on the field when they scored. About a minute before that, Bongser thought to himself (as no one else listens to his thoughts) "

There are sterner tests to come and the team need to learn a new interpretation of the old chestnut "It's a game of two halves!"
Centurions generally in control though and Bongser would have loved a centre the size of MacDonald to the inside in the former's lacklustre days on the wing. Did Nene get to take the matchball home?
Early doors leaders, let's hope we stay there - the club's tag line was already looking tired a couple of years ago.

Not sure Fev could cope with that pack. If anything we lack ideas at dummy half.

Atomic , I was impressed from 1-17 today ,they all contributed , I like young Nisbet on the wing , as I do Aekins,Amoane,Asiata, and Stone , our pack is fast and strong , and for me McDonald will be a star this season , providing he stays fit .
I liked Smith at hooker , he didn’t want to come off , but Hingano did his bit, and when Hitchcox and Wardle get back , add Ipape to the squad we look mean , however I take nothing for granted , Fev will feel the same , it will be interesting seeing how they go tomorrow , all in all a great season is in front of us , though I predict a lean hard time in Cumbria this year , battling relagation with Sheff.

Bongser , a fair view from you , against 10 men I felt we should have kept them out , even AL said the same , we could have had more points had the ball gone to hand and not to ground , McDonald could have had 5or 6 tries on another day , but it will come , a good all round start .Charlie knows.

I actually agree with that. This has been my thoughts since the Saints game. Reynolds is not a favourite of mine anyway, and I just can't make my mind up about Mellor. If we had Ryan Brierley in that team today, we would've run complete riot.

| For a first hit out was a pretty good performance. Hard to tel in sone respect as with all due respect Haven we’re not the strongest challenge. Amone and Loane made a big impact coming on an Aetkin and Macbonald looked good. The remainders from last season all performed well. Think we need a few more bodies to give us options against different teams. Big change next week when we play Feath and that will give us the benchmark for success.

Despite not wanting to lose Ryan after his move to FB, Aekins is a couple of rungs higher in that FB ladder. Mellor and Reynolds looked very good in my eyes yesterday, the interchange hooker needs to be running a lot more imo and Ipape does that.

| IMO Reynolds & Mellor were excellent yesterday and i already love the left edge combo of Reynolds, Macdonald & Dixon. I think that edge will run riot this year, Reynolds already looks to have a great relationship with Macdonald. Dixon could be pound for pound our best signing this year he is so quick. Asiata bossed it in the middle and was very classy with his run/pass options, Stone runs some great lines on the right edge and that pack of Sidlow, Green, Amone & Ioane was outstanding. We did lose a lot of momentum when Smith went off, he definitely made us click. Aekins was outstanding and looked a very useful runner.
Very Positive. Loved it yesterday!
