No I was 5, nearly 6. But I'm told I watched the final on tv and cheered all the way.

I was 10 and our family and friends all went to my dads Auntie Ediths next to Charity Farm to watch her colour telly because nobody else had one. And for the homecoming we stood on Holden Road with bed sheets covered in messages of congratulations for the lads, written in lipstick

I remember that gable end along Twist Lane with the mural on it, we passed every time we went to my relatives in Pilling Street

IIRC we still didn't have central heating or a telephone, or hadn't had them long....I shall remind my kids when I see them today just how lucky they are icon_biggrin.gif

Reet I best get my backside in gear if I'm on the 9:46 out of Hudds - Boars Head for 12 noon...can't wait icon_cool.gif

I was having breakfast in the Ivanhoe Hotel which is near to the British Museum.

We had had a look round in there (on the Friday) but at 9-30am we were in Trafalgar Square. By 4-45pm that day I had lost my voice for a week.

One sad thing of all the folk I went down with many have died or left the area. I know one who still lives in Leigh but of our group I am the only one who still goes. eusa_eh.gif

I was in the quaint little village of South Mimms. where I had spent the Night at my Auntie Edies, I then caught a Greenline bus into Barnet then a tube and a walk to the Stadium, in the evening I celebrated the victory in the White Hart pub in South Mimms where I left my scarf and two rosettes,

My friend Francis and I were 8 at the time, his home was furnished with a new colour tv, I spent the day at his house. He and I were armed with one of those relatively new fangled 50 pence pieces each. We bought fruit salad and black jack chews. You could get 4 for a penny then so with a mountain of 400 chews we sat scoffing them fearing a crushing defeat from Leeds.
I remember the emotions at full time, sickness after demolishing most of the chew mountain, laughter at listening to Eddie Waring (sulking) and amazement and delight that Leigh had won.
It was a great day… if you don’t count the clip round the ear from my Dad for “wasting 50p on bloody chews”
I’d do it all again, if only we could

I was only 10 but I was there icon_biggrin.gif

A family convoy about 20 of us went down Friday, me and my cousin in the back of my Dads van on a 'borrowed' eusa_whistle.gif bus seat, we parked up outside central London somewhere and trained it to Euston. I can't remember were we stayed, we went to the Palladium Friday night, up early Saturday went to see the Queen before heading to Wembley, remember my Uncle having a Cherry and White suit on, and everyone on the tube looking at him as if he had 2 heads icon_lol.gif
the game itself flew over and the things I remember about it are mainly due to the re-runs of watching it on video.

We should have stayed until Monday, don't think 'the organisers' expected us to win icon_surprised.gifops: but after the result and a request from the hotel owner icon_biggrin.gifRUNK: icon_biggrin.gifRUNK: we were home to welcome them back.

I was 13, and my dad and a friend were on our way down to Wembley in the car, a red Vauxhall Victor. We parked up in Watford, had breakfast, then got trains to Wembley. Great day.
