I am sick and tired of reading and seeing that Leigh finished second from bottom last year. At no time during the entire season were Leigh EVER in the bottom two. It may not have been a great season, but we won more games than Batley and as many as Gateshead. If the media and other supporters want to comfort themselves by painting a different story then fair enough, but please let's not add to it ourselves. Due to the situation with the French, then yes we were supposed to be in line for relegation, but we were NEVER at any stage throughout the season in the bottom two. I have heard Millward saying we ran last and second last on a number of occasions and I do not think we should keep sending out this false message. Yes we have done superbly this year, the transformation has been fantastic and I can understand wanting to further embellish the achievement by saying we were bottom etc last year, but I do not think it is right. Afterall, the team that did finish bottom was about THIRTY points behind us(hardly close).We finished level on points with Gateshead and Batley, with many many more points than Donny and more points than Toulouse(that is nearly half the division) There is nobody more thrilled than me with this season, but please let's stop saying we finished bottom last year as the media and other fans do pick up on this false info and use it against us.

To be relegated you HAVE to finish in the relegation places, being demoted on a technicality is another thing.

So we wasn't in a relegation place afterall? While we are at it why don't we ignore the rules to fit in with our way of seeing things and take out the bonus points too and see we would have been 2nd bottom.
Relegating 2 out of 10 teams is cruel, just like this season will be but come on we was lucky to stay up and knew the rules and agreed to them beforehand

Why does last season still need to be mentioned, I don't see the point?

You ignore history at your peril hence the expression learning from your mistakes.

The RFL will eventually see that we are in the second year of franchising and crowds have dropped for practically all professional clubs.

There is a saying if it works don't fix it. Seems obvious to me therefore if it doesn't work then you should fix it.

You never know if the RFL do fix it we might be in a proper Superleague next season and our crowds might take off accordingly.

Quite a few people have fallen into the trap of saying Leigh were second bottom (myself included?!) because they ended up in the second relegation place. It's an easy enough mistake to make, although I can understand it being irritating for those who had to endure last season.

However, I can't see Basil changing his comments - "I've taken this team from second bottom to second top" does his rep no harm at all!

I we're all being a little over sensitive about this.
We finished 3rd from bottom and played some complete garbage MOST of the time.
The transformation has been fantastic, not even the most optimistic Leigh fan could have predicted that we would be undefeated after 8 rounds.
Just enjoy this season and forget about last.

What difference does it make? We were not good enough last season. On at least two occasions we managed to not only toss a half-time lead, but end up losing by more than twelve points - thus missing the bonus point that would have made all the end of season 'hand wringing' meaningless!!!
Lets just embrace what is happening this season, and enjoy the ride!!
