Don't know if this has been mentioned before but what a diaster that ITV have sacked off their teletext service! I religiously read this every night and the RL pages were up to date and contained loads of news, it is easier than signing onto the PC and what am i to do know to kleep up to date with the latest RL news?

Another cost cutting measure. I guess they don't think it worth the cost to keep going as most people use the internet now. Can see others following to be honest.

I must of been in their top ten users in the country i am/was adicted to it! Too much scouring for news on the NET it was all in one place. Perhaps someone on here could post the latest RL news ie someone who works for the club who is a part time journalist

Yes, I'm afraid Teletext closed down yesterday and there have been a lot of redundancies as a result. Apparently the service had not made money for quite a long time. With more people getting their news from the internet, advertisers were no longer interested in advertising there. Only the holiday section brought in any money and that was not enough to prop the rest up. It's very sad. Definitely the end of an era.

Trouble is the digital teletext is crap compared to the analogue. The weather forecast is a prime example. All you get are a few pictures of clouds or sun symbols with no words! Rubbish.

Do you think if we petitioned them they'd keep their RL pages going? I feel like my arms been chopped off.

Sign of the times I'm afraid. My dad still used the analogue text until the day they turned it off. He's gutted but what can you do? I sometimes think my parents would still have a black and white tv if i didn't tell them they could get a colour one!!

I am gutted its gone cos i went on every night too for the info and it was much better than the BBC as thats all SL ,there was always some news about the lower leagues

I've been trying to explain to a 70 year old lady with learning difficulties all night that it's gone, finished, over, wont be on again.4 hours and she was asking me every five minutes why it wasn't on, I thought she'd finally got it when she said 'so it's been taken off then?' and I said yes it has.
As I went through the door to leave she said will it be back tomorrow?

Unfortunately it wont, but I will and we can start all over again, great.

Although I get the same articles (and more) from SportingLife, it was always good to read the rugby stuff during the adverts. Plus the new version doesn't seem to like the word 'exit', had to turn the box off yesterday to get rid of the holiday adverts!

I used to read it for rugby league news, so much better than ceefax.
Yes, the internet is better, but if i couldn't be @rsed switching the computer on, page 440 it was.
